Just thought it would be useful. I’m turning 28 weeks next week and I’m flying away to Turkey, so according to rules of my airline (Wizzair), I need a Fit to Fly certificate.
I’m in Portsmouth; my GP practice was useless and said they would require 2-4 weeks notice to produce such a letter at £30 charge. Also, what’s worrying they said they could future date it as I challenge them around the date that the airline would accept (the letter needs to be maximum 2 weeks old on the date of your departure). What is even the point of this letter if you can future date it???
My midwife couldn’t help me either with the formal letter (they are not authorized to do that), but was able to write up notes that clearly stated I am low risk, including my BMI, that I’m not showing symptoms of preeclampsia, my blood pressure is normal and the pregnancy is fine. I was supposed to be able to access it through my badger app, but for some reason they were not available there (even my BMI was missing). I called the community midwife and they sent me the summary of my records, which I then uploaded to ZoomDoc.
ZoomDoc also accepts screenshots from your badger app. Costed me £40 and I had my letter within 1 hour of ordering it online.
It has d special QR code, and apparently some airlines check for authenticity.

Sounds very odd. I live in London, and had to request a fit to fly form via the GP's website, it was done in a about a week, I went and picked it up from the GP reception (although I had to ring a few times to remind them). And I wasnt charged.

My midwife in Cambridge has been amazing and she is doing it for me the day before I fly to make sure it’s extra close to the date. I think the fact I am going back home to America and the urgency has helped perhaps. I think it all depends on your doctor surgery too, but mine was done through my midwife and not GP and I think I would have had the same issue as you if that was the case. I’m really sorry for your experience but at least you can fly now x

I had a terrible experience as well. My midwife said she can’t do one for me and my GP wanted to charge me £100… My obs doctor is trying to sort one of me but if that fail then I will definitely take your recommendation. I have to go to dentist in Portugal because it’s a year long waiting list here in Wales 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

This has helped me. Thank you
