Taking newborn insert out of car seat

My boy is 8 weeks old, in the 91% for his height and is 61cm long, we have the cybex aton 5 and it says to remove the insert after they hit 61cm but I'm worried he's too young for us to remove it just yet, when should we take it out?

Join the “Car Seat Safety UK” group on Facebook, they will offer you guidance as to whether he needs it removing or not. Often the measurements in the manual are just a guide - it will depend entirely on his fit in the car seat, usually removing the insert results in there being too much space around baby and the fit wouldn’t be considered safe. If you feel he’s fitting comfortably with the insert still in, then I’m sure you’re okay to leave it.

As above! Our girls have long backs and short legs (like me!) so their overall height isn’t a great indicator. It really depends on a lot more than just height. Definitely seek advice as suggested by @Steph

Thank you ladies! I definitely will, he seems to look comfortable in it and my boy is all legs!

Same here! 25th centile for weight but 91st for length. We took out the insert to see but he seemed too small for that so we put it back in.
