Sterilising MAM bottles abroad

Might sound silly but for everyone who’s formula fed abroad, are you able to use the tap water to sterilise? I know you can’t drink it but if you were to use sterilising tablets to cold sterilise can you use the tap water? Or with the MAM bottles has anyone just sterilised them in the microwave using tap water?

Hmm I’m planning on getting this uv portable steriliser for when we go abroad https://amzn.eu/d/9Pu7074. So maybe something like this would work for u?

ahh thank you but I’d rather not it’s massive and we’ll have enough to take as it is! Trying to keep everything as easy and lightweight as possible 😅😅

I’ve found a small container you can buy specifically for using these whilst on the go but my question is whether you can use water straight from the tap to sterilise with when abroad as these tablets need water, same as the portable sterilising plastic bags you can microwave. Think I’m going to have another google! Thank you x

It should be fine. The steam is what does the sterilizing, not the water. Anything in the water stays in the water because it’s too heavy to go into the steam. This is pretty much how distilled water is made: by collecting steam. If you don’t let the bottles touch the water, the tap should be fine to sterilize. You just need a sterilizer or you can steam on the stove. There are cheap sterilizers that you can use in the microwave.

I'm planning to just sterilise the MAM bottles in the microwave when we go on holiday but thinking of using bottled water instead of tap. Although I'd say it depends where you're going, in Europe tap water is fine to drink so would be fine to sterilise with too x

Yup we used the tap water for the Milton tablets and using in the munchkin sterilising bags in the Microwave

I was wondering whether you can use the tap water for cold water sterilising though. I think it’s safe after having another look online although I’ll probably use the microwave x

Cosleeping

So my 5 month old sleeps in a portable bassinet between myself and my husband every night. He's so good, he sleeps the whole night with both of us each holding one of his hands. My husband wants him to start sleeping in his crib but I honestly love him being with me. I sleep so much better knowing he's right there with me. The times I have tried to put him in his crib he screams and I feel so awful. I also sit there watching the monitor and don't ever get any sleep. I feel like I am being selfish because I want him to stay in the bed with me. I get that in the long run it's better for him to learn to sleep in his crib in his own room but I am just so not ready and he doesn't seem to be either. Is there ever really a good time to make the change? Anyone else dealing with this?

Stylish nappy bags?

Seems silly but I really hate the look of all the nappy backpacks I've seen. Has anyone come across any stylish bags that do well as a nappy bag? Seems small and silly but I'm really worried about losing my sense of self when baby arrives and this seems like a small, easy way to retain some of my style and character

Question for the newborn mamas!

My 2 month old coughs and chokes in between feeds recently. It will come on randomly. Sometimes it’s scary! I think it’s because of reflux but I can’t be sure. He also has been salivating a lot more so he’s got a build up of that. Any ideas/ tips tricks to help?

Next 2 me or Moses Basket

Hi,

First time mum here 👋

What are we all doing in terms of sleeping arrangements for our little ones once they arrive?

I'm leaning more towards a moses basket for bedtimes, 💭 any experience or advice welcome 🫶

Daily bath time?

Are there any mums who are bathing their babies daily? My daughters 7 weeks old and I’m only bathing her 2/3 times a week as recommended by my midwife but I feel it helps soothe her tummy as well as relaxes her before bedtime and I’m wondering if I should add more baths into our routine!

Sleeping at Night

I gave birth on 31st March. FTM struggling, my baby hates being put down, hates the next to me crib. We’ve tried swaddling, sleep bags, white noise, any advice I would be so grateful. I haven’t had much sleep since giving birth so grateful for any tips
