Nervous about rude nurses during labour and delivery

Hi,

About to be a first time mummy. Has anyone dealt with rude labour and delivery midwives during labour? I'm slightly nervous that i will get one and want to be prepared to deal with it in the appropriate way when giving birth. I'm especially worried about their willingness to administer pain relief.

I had the best nurses and doctor with my first daughter! The only person who was rude was my Anesthesiologist. And unfortunately sometimes you could be having the best experience and someone ruins it. If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable or is rude you can tell them and they will bring a new one in.

Thank you so much. This makes me feel so much better. Most of the midwives i have had exposure to are the loveliest people. I'm just nervous during labour i will get someone who will be rude and I won't be in the right mindset to deal with it

Have you considered writing up a birth preference document ?
You could outline what pain relief/ additional supports you’re open to or comfortable with in addition to what you don’t want ?
The midwives / nurses I’ve spoken to for mine have been really open to the idea and have said that it helps them know what the mother wants and guides their support process ☺️

Thank you so much! I'm in the process of writing one up. I have some items I'm not sure about that i would like to discuss with the midwife before ruling in or out

I gave birth in blacktown last month, honestly everyone who was in the room with me were the absolute loveliest people! Do you know whose delivering your baby? It should say it on your yellow card

I'm really glad to hear your experience was so positive. I'm due at blacktown hospital too, so very glad to hear that. I couldn't see it on my yellow card. Anywhere specific i should look at?

10 week appointment

Hi :) first time mum here :
I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant and have an appointment with a midwife soon at 10 weeks which I was told would involve blood tests. I wasn’t sure if this would include a scan or would I have to wait until 12 weeks?
Thanks :)

Engaged 2/5

I had midwife appointment & they said babies head is engaged and about 2/5.

I dont remember them doing this with my 1st. I did ask what it meant, they said it meant baby is getting ready/in position.

My question is, anyone else been told this, if so how far gone were you & have you had your baby yet?

I looked online & saw that subsequent pregnancies can mean baby will come in a few days time altho this isnt a confirmed sign of info used to predict labour is near etc.

Just curious if anyone else is in this position, im 38+4 very uncomfortable & praying i dont end up overdue, I was 40+5 with my 1st 😬

Morning people

Those of you who get up early and feel awake and refreshed, esp if it wasn't a natural thing for you... How? Even if I went to bed at like 7pm and slept I could still easily sleep until like midday the next day. I've always been an insanely tired person and could sleep all day but i feel like I'm wasting my days. I also become irrationally angry when i don't get what i deem to be enough sleep (which is ridiculous seeing as I'd willingly sleep all day) I want to be one of those people who can get up early get ready, instead I struggle getting up when my alarm goes off or I'll sleep until late afternoon if I can then get up feeling groggy and unmotivated to do anything the entire day.

Name dilemma 🩷

Wanting a girl name with the potential nickname “Rosie” 🌷 I would use Rosie as a first name but it is unfortunately the same name as my LO’s sister’s pet 😭 Rosie has been my favourite name since forever

Bleeding

I'm curious to know if anyone else is experiencing changes in their postpartum bleeding? I bled normally for the first 18 days, and then it dwindled down to almost nothing for the past 2 weeks. Well, I just now used the bathroom and noticed I'm back to spotting a lil bit more. Is this normal? I'm currently a month and 5 days postpartum.

Anyone find sleeping to be hard or uncomfortable after their C section?
