Best bottle for tongue tied baby

Just found out at 9 weeks old that my baby has a tongue tie which is explaining the fussiness on the bottle when feeding however because he’s gaining weight HV has said the nhs won’t accept a referral for him. I’m wanting to make feeding more calming does anyone have any advice as to what teat/ bottle I can use to try and make it easier?

I’d push back. Our baby was gaining weight really well but had a severe posterior tongue tie.

Say you want it assessed!!

I agree with Lee; my LG was also gaining weight but got a referral anyway and she got it done.

Babe not about the bottle but nhs should accept referral with king’s college hospital, they did with me and my sons 8 weeks

We use dr. brown bottles with our tongue tied baby

My daughter has tongue tie and we use Mam bottles- she was also able to easily use alongside breastfeeding. I’d be interested to know what your HV says as mine also said they don’t do anything unless it affects eating xx

That’s rubbish from your HV - my baby was gaining weight lovely but I mentioned to the midwife that she was clicking when BFing and gassy because of swallowing air and I got referred straight away.

We were referred by lactation specialist that we saw privately, my girl had posterior tongue tie. Initially she wasn’t gaining weight, and they blamed it on “low milk supply”, which now I know is rare and usually there is a reason behind it. When my girl was 2 weeks old they pushed us to give her formula, so we started combi feeding and that affected my supply even more. There were other signs too that there is an issue, and we asked questions, but no one picked up on the tongue tie, until we finally gave in and paid for someone to get it checked… Needless to say it went on for so long I had to stop breastfeeding completely, because my girl got used to the bottle too much and refused feeding from the breasts. Tried pumping too, but I couldn’t sustained it so we’re on 100% formula now. I have many friends with babies with tongue tie, and the different advices they’ve been given by HVs, midwives, etc is just crazy! My other half is a dentist, his advice to my friends were to get it done

as it can cause speech issues later on. Sorry for the long post!

I had issues with little one latching on to me causing painful nipples and gassy baby. Baby had been a gaining weight brilliantly to my surprise!
The health visitor team breastfeeding support referred little one to the tongue tie team due to poor latching etc and I saw someone when she was 6/7 weeks old and found out she had a tongue tie which was attached to the floor of her mouth! They clipped her that day and feeding improved straight away but not 100% still. Only today I thought she has latched brilliantly (now 11 weeks old).
They should be able to refer if baby isn’t feeding brilliantly regardless of weight gain 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bump at 7 weeks

Does anyone else have a baby bump early? I'm sucking in to rule out any bloating in the picture.

Mucus plug

I began to lose pieces of my mucus plug yesterday. Today I’m pretty sure the whole thing came out. I’m a bit worried as I’m only 37 weeks.

How soon did you go into labor after losing your mucus plug?

April 2nd baby 💙

I was due on April 2nd and baby boy arrived at 39 weeks after a positive induction on gas and air, too late for an epidural and 48 minutes in labour. 💙

Bleeding at 9 weeks postpartum

Hi I’m not sure what the best thing to do is, I stoped bleeding around 6-7 weeks postpartum and my doctor told me if I kept bleeding past 7 weeks I needed to get an ultrasound.

The bleeding completely stopped around 7 weeks so I thought it would be ok. It came back now and looks like dark red blood? It’s like a light period enough to fill a pad after a few (3-4) hours but not super heavy.

I’m exclusively breastfeeding but could this just be the return of my period ? I was really hoping it wasn’t going to come back this early haha. I don’t have cramps like I used to and it’s definitely not as heavy as my period used to be. It’s been going for 2 days now… I know your period changes after birth sometimes so could just be that.

Large bowel/labor soon? 38 wks

So today for the first time right when I woke up I needed to poop urgently which isn’t normal for me, I usually poop at the end of the day and it’s not a large bowel it’s pretty small compared to my normal pre pregnancy bowels and also I’ve been more constipated while pregnant. This morning it was actually a good consistency and a larger amount than even normal, could this mean my body is clearing itself out for labor soon?? I’m currently 38 weeks and 3 days
