Hiya, does anyone know if you see the same midwife at QCHH for all your antenatal appointments?
I've just had my second midwife appointment with the same midwife and really don't like her. I've got quite a complicated medical history and was really rude in my first appointment and everything was so rushed. I thought I'd give her the benefit of doubt and see how today's weng but it was even worse.
I'm not sure if I can request a midwife change/ who you speak to about that? I've heard that at some hospitals you often get different midwives at different appointments so if that's the case, maybe it's just bad luck I've had the same person twice 😖 Don't know what to do.

I was under Queen Charlotte’s for my care and you can definitely ask for a change of midwife.
Do you have a blue folder for your notes? If so, the number for the service / service lead should be on one of the front pages. You can call them to explain your situation and ask to be seen by someone else. I personally didn’t do this as my midwife left without warning then I saw someone different for every remaining appt. but requests to change happen all the time so don’t worry at all about asking! xx

Ah thanks so much! This makes me feel so much better. Do you think she'd find out though? I'm ded worried I'll request to change and then it won't get processed and it'll be somewhere in my notes that I've asked and next time I see her she'll find out 😂 xx

to be honest I think she probably would find out but they see so many pregnant mamas they honestly won’t care because it happens regularly - sorry, I don’t mean for that to sound harsh! To minimise the possibility of it not being actioned, I would do it as far in advance of your next appt. as possible so you can be reallocated. Good luck! xx

thanks so much 🙏🙏 I'll ring them up tomorrow and do the deed 😂😬 xx

😂🤞🏽💪

I’m 28 weeks and with QCCH and I’ve never seen the same midwife twice. Each appointment I’ve had has been with a different midwife! Good luck to you though! X

Oh really? That's interesting! Maybe I have just been unlucky with the one I've had then. Have your antenatal appointments been ok? Xx

Honestly it’s been brilliant, can’t fault them!

I’ve also seen a different midwife (and different consultant) each time 🙃

Interesting! In your blue book does it have the name of a midwife on your printouts etc and are they all different depending on who you've seen then? Mine obviously all have the same midwife on it as if I'm her patient type thing... 🤔 so confused 😂 x

I was at Queen Charlotte, very rarely did I get a repeat midwife. The one I did see most regularly was not the best - my growth scans showed my baby was huge at 36 wks but she wouldn’t recommend an induction so I ended up waiting in MDAU for 8hrs. Thank God I saw a Dr there who booked me in for the next week. My LO ended up being born at (4.5kg) 10lbs at 38wks via emergency c section!! Can you imagine what might have happened if I’d listened to her and waited until 41 + 6!!!!!

I have to say though, prenatal midwives aside the doctors and postnatal midwives were absolutely amazing!!!

Not too sure which printouts you mean as I’ve only got my booking form done by a midwife, which does have her name (all the other printouts are scans etc. so have the sonographer or consultants name).

ah thanks for this! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience... So glad everything was ok in the end. Seems like luck of the draw as to who you end up getting!

I had two babies at Queen Charlotte, one in 2020 and one in 2021 and I did not see one midwife twice…..
