Problems with maxi cosi pebble 360

Hi

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with the fit of the maxi cosi pebble 360 car seat?

Our little girl is now 60cm tall so at the limit for the newborn insert, and she weighs 4.66kg, so is on the small size for her age (she’s 3.5 months).

The straps on the car seat do not seem to come over her shoulders as well now she is growing but without the insert she is not wide enough to fit the seat snuggly (see picture). I also feel her head isn’t supported particularly well in the seat. Has anyone else has the same problem?

I’ve contacted maxi cosi to ask for advice and haven’t been given a particularly helpful response other than the measurements she should be at before removing the newborn insert. I bought the car seat from John Lewis so plan to contact their advice line tomorrow and look at what can be done under the 2 year warranty on the seat. Just wondering if others had similar issues and what was done? I’m hoping we can swap it for an alternative and possibly pay the difference in price if there is one.

Thanks.

Those shoulder pads shouldn’t be behind her, they will be really affecting the fit of the straps. Do the straps themselves come out the seat just below or level with her shoulders? If lower then they need to be raised. If they do then the pads should unpopper to enable you slide them down, or they might just slide by themselves?

There's great Facebook groups that will do a fit check for you. Extended rear facing car seat safety is one of them. I'm not an expert but she looks a bit high in the seat to me, needs to be more bum to buckle and down a little bit.

Avatar

yes I completely agree. The straps don’t move with the newborn insert in. But without it the straps are in a better place but she isn’t wide enough and doesn’t fit securely in the seat.

thank you. I did sign up to one but never got a reply.
Her bum is as far down as I can get her. I think he reusable nappy pushes her up a bit higher.

thank you I’ll give this a try

I’m really regretting buying this one. I’m hoping John Lewis will let us return it as it doesn’t seem safe to me. If not I’ll have to fork out for another but it’s just so frustrating!

I hate this car seat now that I know more about car seats from being in one of those FB groups.

Yes convenient that it swivels but otherwise I don’t think it’s a particularly well designed or comfy car seat.

I’ll definitely be buying the ones the group recommend when my LO is out of this one!!!

Can you pull her further down your seat? She should be sitting right at the bottom

Avatar

no that’s as far as I can get her

I think your so right! Such a waste of money

I have the same one and the same issue. We brought this one was we were told this was the best one from one of the ladies working in John Lewis so let us know how you get on!

Avatar

ah thank you. Your little girl seems to fill the sides out a little better than my little one. The shoulder straps fit much better without the insert but I just don’t feel she is supported enough around the sides without it.

I shall let you know!

We had the Maxi Cosi Pebble until my daughter was around 12 months old, at which stage she had put grown it in length rather than age. We thought it was a no brainer to move onto another Maxi Cosi seat- big mistake. She looked as if she was sitting on top of the seat rather than in it and benefitting from the protection it should offer.
We started to shop around and a few sales assistances knew exactly what the problem was and acknowledged the problem. I found both Mamas & Papas & JLP very helpful and we chose a Britax one instead. I couldn’t believe the difference in the ‘fit’ of the car seats.

We had exactly the same problem with the same seat… we went into mamas and papas when passing and the lady in there showed us that actually we hadn’t put him in right since removing the insert. She moved the straps down (which I didn’t even know you could do…🤦🏻‍♀️) and made sure he was as low down to the crotch bit as possible . Then fastened the belt much tighter than we had been doing and actually he looked instantly more secure. I’ve probably not explained this well but maybe just pop in to your local store and ask them to have a look xx

Avatar

oh that sounds a bit of a nightmare for you! Glad you found one in the end.

Avatar

yes plan to go to John Lewis to get it looked at, but unfortunately with the insert in the straps don’t move, it’s very frustrating

Avatar

the pads surely should move down the straps?

Avatar

the straps can be adjusted on a further two settings once the insert is removed. But the pads are attached. It’s a crazy system

Avatar

She actually looks good in there! If anything a little squished. Is that the newborn insert she’s sat in, in the pic? The only problem I see is that the shoulder pads should be coming completely over her and down to in line with the top of her armpits. Do they come off? Or move up and down at all?
I have worked in retail dealing with car seats and unfortunately you won’t get any refund or exchange because there isn’t a fault with the seat it’s just your opinion

Avatar

it is the newborn insert and the shoulder pads won’t move with her in it. However when it’s taken out she’s far too big for the main seat although we can then adjust the straps which make it looks safer and more comfortable.

Avatar

We had a maxi cosi pebble plus, and though the insert was “meant” to be outgrown at 60cm I found the same, that she had far too much room round her. We kept it in til she was about 8.5months (67cm/7kg).
Have you moved the strap guide up on the back of the seat? (Undo the back and it should have something to slide it further up) x

Avatar

yes we tried sliding the panel st the back upwards but then with the insert back in it won’t allow you to adjust the straps. I’m going to take it into John Lewis where we bought it to get them to have another look.
It’s a strange fit and I imagine by the sounds of it your pebble plus was as well.

Avatar

How did you get on? Having the same issue at 9 weeks.

Avatar

sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We sent pictures and videos in the end to maxi Cosi who advised it was fine and in the right position. We continued with it and are now at the point of changing seats. But after lots of research I’ve regretted my choice with maxi Cosi and we are switching to a Swedish plus tested car seat instead I think.

Avatar

We’re just having the same issue now as my baby is only 2 weeks old and 9lb 7 but very long in the back - her back doesn’t fit where it should and so the straps aren’t in the right place and then her head is almost balancing on nothing underneath it. Really dissapointed. Going to try without the insert but I imagine she’s much too small at 2 weeks. Going to ask John Lewis in store too. Thanks for your original post!

Good luck. Hope you managed to get it sorted.

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
