So little one was 15 weeks yesterday and ever since birth we’ve rocked him to sleep and put him in crib when he’s pretty much fast asleep. The better transfers are usually when he stirs but then softens and goes off to sleep on his own a few seconds later. There’s no way of knowing whether he’ll stir and do that or stay completely still, only to stir a few minutes later and wake himself up. This generally works at night time but naps during the day have been notoriously difficult, he contact napped for 3 months and we’ve been trying to put him in his crib since, sometimes he’s down for as little as 3 minutes, 35 mins has been the best nap but that’s happened once.
Basically my question is, is this ok? Haha! I have been getting myself a little worked up because I’ve read about the 4 month sleep regression and how rocking becomes harder, it’s better to put them down drowsy but awake etc. but all the things I’ve found online, you have to pay for some sort of app or programme to help you train your baby to sleep well. I don’t want to get obsessed with wake windows and clock watching etc. I’d rather follow my baby’s lead and do what he needs. How did they do it in times before there were apps and programmes on the internet to help you?

We are exactly the same xx

I’m glad I’m not the only one. My little one wouldn’t sleep at all if I relied on “drowsy but awake” he’d just cry all night long and I wouldn’t let that happen.

Same!

I’m the same, everything’s changed with her naps and sleep - I think it’s because they become more active and they have to adapt?
I’m trying to follow baby’s leads but it’s har not to get sucked in to the sleep training programmes!

At the end of the day if it works for you and it’s sustainable then don’t worry about what anyone else says! I do my routine differently but that works for me so always just do what’s best for you and your little xx

Agree with you can do whatever works for you but if it’s not sustainable for you anymore and you want to change it you can do! We do a mix of naps in the cot, pram, contact nap and in the car if we’re out and about. She usually only naps in her cot for 45/50 mins max, though she does go down awake and fall asleep x
