I feel defeated…

This is my third child and I’ve been trying real hard to pump and nurse with this one. I haven’t exactly always had a good milk supply with any of my babies. I’ve been working hard on building my supply but I’m not even halfway close to what my baby needs. I made sure I had the correct flange insert, I’m hydrating well, eating well and even taking fenugreek and milk thistle. I’m almost 14 days pp and I’m literally getting about 9 ounces per day, on a good day… My breasts are no longer engorged in the mornings, two days in a row now. I feel defeated and ready to give up but a part of me also feels guilty. I guess I’m looking for a place to vent and to get some support from fellow moms.

Are you taking a prenatal still? That and eating tons of healthy food is what my hospital told me.. that and having baby suck every 4 hours to stimulate more milk

yes still taking my prenatal as well

Are you latching often with baby to stimulate more supply? Even if they don’t get much out always try to BF before offering formula. The main thing that will build your supply is constant feeding or pumping, not necessarily just draining your breasts a few times a day in case you were doing that.

Are you wanting to exclusively pump? Are you not latching baby at all?

I've known Fenugreek to have the opposite effect on some women. Can you see a lactation consultant? I had to have domperidone around 12 weeks to help up milk supply. It's a tablet for nausea, and one of the sude effects is to increase mulk supply xx

tried nursing her before and either she falls asleep or she tears up my right nipple. Not necessarily trying to exclusively pump either.

the ped I’m bringing her too is also a lactation consultant. I’m seeing her again on Wednesday. I’m going to stop the fenugreek and see what happens. I read about that too but I personally don’t know anyone that’s actually used it to compare experiences.

I take sunflower lecithin and its been helping me immensely. Also, i dont know what pump you are using but i found that i started hating pumping so much with my medela and spectra that my milk wouldnt come out. I invested in the elvie so i could be hands free and still able to cuddle my baby and that made ALL the difference for me. The less strong pump got more out just because i detested the others so much, being tired too an outlet and the big bottles sticking out and not able to snuggle my babies!

I also will nurse mine with a nipple shield for about two minutes and thats enough to get stimulated and will often get an ounce or two more. My right side will often only get .25-.5 ounces, but if i let him latch for a minute or two I’ll get 1.5-3 ounces from just that side! It’s worth a try IF it isn’t hurting you. I won’t go without my shield. 🤕

im using the spectra since I got it 2 years ago with my last pregnancy. I actually got the Elvie stride for this pregnancy. I was told by my LC not to use the elvie until milk is established. I may just start using it today honestly and see what happens. Do you know if the small flange inserts work on it or do I have to purchase the bigger ones?

Should my 4 almost 5 week old have a bedtime?

My baby girl will be 5 weeks on Tuesday (28th), she’s breastfed and sleeps well mostly but is usually up every 2-3 hours for a feed. I haven’t noticed a routine and has been co/sleeping for the last 2 weeks as she got a little cold and fusses a lot now when I try to put her in the sleepyhead. I’m not sure if the cold is what’s thrown everything off but should she have a bedtime or routine by now? I just go by her and what she wants at the moment…

9 week old sleeping through the night

For the past 2 nights my baby has slept through the night 😱
Yesterday she lasted 7h since the last feed until she woke up asking for food and today it's been 8h.
She got her jabs on Wednesday and she's been eating a little bit less (normally 730-820ml per day and for the past 4 days only about 700ml). Should I be concerned? She's otherwise very good, plenty of wet nappies and super alert when awake. I still feed her the same amount of times, just offering it more frequently

Just sharing

I have an almost 9 week old baby, and she never slept independently since day 1. I tried putting her on her crib for nap times during the day but not even 20 mins and she is going to wake up, same at night. She will just sleep if she is in her carrier, or we are in bed but I should be beside her. I feel like I’m doing something wrong.

Anyone awake?

It’s one of the hard nights when baby won’t go to sleep, my partner does the first part of the night (usually until 4am), at 2am he was desperate because baby won’t sleep at all. He changed him 3 times and fed him a whole bottle of formula. I got up and breastfed him once at 2am and now I’m currently breastfeeding again. I feel like this baby won’t let us sleep tonight so just wanted to see if anyone is in the same situation.
This too shall pass. ✨

Breastfeeding with piercings?

I am 34 weeks along and my midwife told me if I want to breastfeed I should take my piercings out now, but when I had a home visit with a nurse she said I shouldnt have to take them out except when feeding or pumping. So I am just curious if there are any moms who have their nipples pierced who have been either breastfeeding or pumping and what's been your experience so far?

Night Time Nappy Leaks - Size 4, 4+ or 5 for a 6.5 Month-Old Side Sleeper

My 6.5 month old girl wears Aldi size 4+ nappies, and they seem perfectly fine during the day.

However, for the last two nights she has peed through her clothes and onto the bedding. She mainly sleeps on her side or tummy. Should I switch back to size 4 nappies for night time, or move up to size 5 instead?
