Sleep Schedules, How are you tag teaming it?

I'm just wondering what everyone else in a simular position to me is doing with their sleep schedule (It's just me, hubby and baby boy)

First time mum here!

Whilst hubby is off he is letting me go to sleep around 8pm, watching the baby till 1am. Then I've been taking over between 1am - 9am (as he really struggles to hear baby in the night he says) then I've been saying he needs to atleast give me a hour or two sleep from 9am.. obviously where possible I get sleep on my shift when baby doses off in crib, which isn't alot (odd hour here and there) and I'm also finding it impossible to find time for naps in the day! I just feel this routine can't stay for long as it's not practical or is this normal whilst you both try find your feet in the newborn phase? My baby is 10 days old now.

My hubby is due to go back go work on 11th September. He works 2 full days in London on a Monday and Tuesday, the rest he works from home so I'm guessing we will have to rejuggle the sleep shifts again then. I'm taking when he's in London it'll just be a case of I will have no choice but to take naps in the day when baby is.. don't know why my brain is struggling to understand the sleep situation! Since my traumatic birth my brain has been suffering the worst brain fog.

When my son was first born me and my partner were alternating shifts but now we will go to sleep at the same time and I’ll set alarms when he’s due a feed in case he doesn’t wake up for them and to check on him x

@Jl.simpson same here, I do nights and partner does a couple hours solo each afternoon to give me time to nap/a little me time

My partner is dreadful on low sleep and I'd rather he was in a good mental state to support me and baby.
Partner is fully responsible for the kitchen being clean and running smoothly so that helps a bit (he does all steralising) and he does all the running about for me, filling my water bottle, making me lunch ect

For context, we start babys quiet time at 6pm after a feed, asleep in the next to me by 7pm (doesnt always work but that's why we start so early) then feed and bum at 11pm, 1am, 4am (this one also has a wake window 🤦‍♀️ so cuddle and singing lullabies till 5.30am) next feed and bum at 8am then 11am and so on

Its what works for us (I'm also one of those people who does fine if I get collectively 6 hours sleep in 24)

My partner and I take the wake ups in turns. We usually have them at 12/3/6. I usually do two unless he's gone to bed late and he'll do the 12am one. We are combi feeding but do bottle in the night. There are some good ideas on this thread though. Like others my partner struggles more than me on little sleep so might try some of the other suggestions.

We’re formula feeding so both go up to bed around 10pm, baby usually wakes for first feed at 12/1am then again at 3/4am - I do these and let him sleep. Then when she wakes for her 6/7am feeds he does this one before he goes to work. She then usually goes back to sleep til around 9.

I’m exactly the same as you in that I just can’t nap in the day! So I really get my sleep in during those pre 1am feeds and that 4/5-9 time.

Obvs it really depends on personal situations etc but we’ve tried a few ways and this is what works for us, he does a lot of driving so it’s important he’s getting a good sleep in but we Mamas need some too or we’ll go a bit sleep deprived crazy I think :)

I’m also breastfeeding and do the night shifts. But one thing that works for us is My husband gives her a bottle of EBM when she wakes for her feed between 6 and 7am and then he puts her back down in our room with me and goes to work. This means I will get around 4 hours uninterrupted and can get up and shower etc before she wakes for her next feed

I've been doing the night feeds as I'm breastfeeding and hubbies really can't help unless he grows functioning boobs 🤣 we will usually get LB to sleep around 10/11, he will wake around 2/3 and again at 6. Hubby will feed him at 6 with a pumped bottle so I can get a little extra sleep 😴

Me and my partner have slightly similar “shifts”, I get up with baby for first feed around 6am and do the morning shift until midday, midday until around 10pm we both just share baby duties then I go to bed and my partner does all the night feeds (which are practically non existent now baby is sleeping through the night😂) and we start again at 6am! This works for us as we both work in hospitality and are used to awkward hours. But that being said you just have to do what’s best for you, your partner and baby🩷

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
