I’ve been feeding my LB Ella pouches 1) not confident enough to do BLW and 2) organic ingredients and no salt or sugar used. Are these okay to use? I see some people say that pouches have hidden sugars and salts but if they aren’t mentioned on the ingredients then does this mean these pouches don’t? I do plan on introducing more BLW foods to build my confidence

I use these. They have “hidden”sugar in that fruit is high in sugar. If you blend an apple what you’re feeding them will be 10% sugar. There’s nothing added to these except lemon juice as a preservative. Personally I don’t see what the difference is other than availability of choice and variety.

I use them too when I’m away from home and they’re absolutely fine. Prunes are a lifesaver too!
I’m glad I’m not the only one nervous to try BLW. My sisters were laughing at me yesterday when I said he only eats things puréed or mashed up, as though giving him dangerous solid food that he can choke on is better!

I did use them a bit but my daughter was sicky on them after the first stage ones . Also didn’t feel her up as much as fresh. I’d recommend you get some little pots and blend fresh fruits and veg once you start your realise how easy it is.
What I don’t understand is if they have nothing added them how do they last so long on the shelf not even in the fridge xx

hey. I have been BLW and I’m in a very useful, evidence backed Facebook group. They have shown articles which discuss how there is no difference between traditional weaning and BLW in the likelihood of choking 😊 it’s daunting to start, especially when they gag or cough but it doesn’t take long to realise this is normal and it normally doesn’t phase the baby. X

thanks 😊 I know that there are benefits to it and I have given him a few bits of toast here and there but I just find it terrifying. My sister suggested handing him a whole babybel yesterday like it’s the most normal thing in the whole world! He’s only 7 months!
Plus I know he’s getting more nutrients with purée and mash, as he actually eats it rather than throws it on the floor. I think we’ll maybe try a few solids in a couple of months but right now he’s just too small.

seriously whatever you’re comfortable with. They won’t be 18 and eating purée- we all get there in the end

I’ve read that baby products have been found to have toxic metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium. Although since the contamination comes from pollution the chances are that those metals will also be in homemade food. I guess I’m just wondering whether there’s anything in the packaging itself who knows.
I keep Ella’s pouches as a reserve when I’m too busy to cook. My main issue is that the pouches are very sweet whereas I’d like my lo to develop a varied palate and also enjoy his greens which may be a bit sour or bitter. So for that reason I try to prepare purées mainly myself

thank you. Always bugs me and forgot to look it up.
Like I say I have used odd ones but I just feel like blended veg and then our balanced meals are best for us x
