I tested positive after failed glucose test. My dr gave me til my next appt.. I have to check my sugar 4 times a day and keep a food diary. So far I’m one week on my new “diet” and my sugars are finally coming down to where they need to be.

Im not sure. I'm 25 weeks and my doctor never told me to get tested or brought it up. I'm wondering if u need to have a certain bmi that u don't have to take the test at all. And I don't meet with her again until I'm 28 weeks pregnant, so she should of already brought it up?

normally it’s around the 28th week, because at 26 the insulin resistance tends to increase… but sometimes they do it earlier because of some risk factors

good for you I was not given that week to adjust I think will ask about that just to make sure, they already prescribed insulin for me as the fasting blood sugar is higher than 95

yes Im currently 27 weeks

@Luli yes ik that but I'll be 28 weeks for my normal ob appointment and you would of thought they would of scheduled me or talked to me about it at my 24 week appointment.

So im thinking I'll most likely not have to take it at all

i know… I actually brought it up this week to her (26 weeks) and she told me “I was going to schedule it for 28w but you’re welcome to do it now if you’re willing to stay an extra hour here”
I told her I didn’t fast and she said it is no problem bc fasting is not required for the 1 hour glucose test.
So I got it done and I failed it and now I have to schedule the 3 hour one that does require fasting.

my next appt is 3 weeks away. So she’s given me some time. I was also pre-diabetic before I got pregnant and have been able to control it with eating habits. It sucks but it’s worth trying

thank you for the info! Any advise on how you were able to control it? Did you see a diabetic nutritionists? Also if you dont mind how old are you?

I’m 28. I see an endocrinologist and I did a lot of research on my own. I ordered a few cook books for gestational diabetes. It’s honestly very similar to keto. So I just follow that type of diet and it’s done well.

also what is the fasting blood sugar should be? I was told 95 or below

ok great I searched as well found apple vinegar is good on salad and end of meals get something sweet like very small portion and walk like 30 mins a day or 3 times after meals really helps
