Baby will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. I was giving her a bath tonight and was pouring some water over her head. She jolted her body forward when I was pouring it and her face went right into the stream of water. She choked on the water and then started crying and was upset for a while after. I feel so bad and can’t stop crying. I’m so scared I hurt her, or traumatized her from water, or weakened her trust in me. I feel like a terrible horrible mom tonight.

I just gave my daughter her first bath. She was cool only for a sec lol.

You should pour water in her face. It helps her to not be afraid of water as she gets older. Pour slowly down from her forhead and she should close her eyes and blow air out of her mouth just on instinct. It may take a few baths before she gets used to it but it's really good for her

Oh mama your doing great it’s just the reflex they have. Pouring the water over her head just scared her is all and when she jumped she jumped into the water. Rock her and let her nurse let her know that she’s okay and that she’s safe. Mine throws her hands outward when she gets scared I feel bad every time she does it but I pull her close and hold her and make sure she’s safe in my arms and rub her head and say “ your okay your okay” you’ve got this mama your doing great.

It happens! I did that with my now almost two year old son when he was a newborn and now he pours water on his own face and chokes on it sometimes so🤷🏻♀️

I got a mini shower head so I wouldn't have to pour water onto baby girl and she loves it. Battery operated and it uses the water from the tub.

What I did with my first is that I went into the shower with her and I let her nurse while standing there as water hits back but some water hits her, I'll be doing the same with my son, if you think holding a watered baby is too dangerous and think you might drop them use a cloth to hold them while in the shower🤷🏼♀️ now my daughter is 14 months old and she loves the shower so much she even tries to go in if we leave the door open to the bathroom 😅
