Sooo, sorry if I sound stupid. I want to start collecting colostrum which if I’m right will then be frozen(?) till needed but my worry is taking it to the hospital, what if I’m in labour for hours and it defrosts too soon or even not quick enough? Will the hospital allow it to just be placed in a fridge till ready for it or? I’m so confused and clearly a first time mamma 🙈🤣
Thanks!

The hospital I had my baby in took the colostrum and put it in the freezer until needed, and then they defrosted it with warm water

I took it in a cool bag in syringes, they popped it in their freezer and then we just used our hands to defrost it when needed x

Wow I hadn’t even thought of this!
Thank you both! 🫶🏻
I think I just overthink everything 🙈🤣 x

I took it in a cool bag and my midwife put it in a freezer as soon as I got there. The syringes are small so I defrosted them just by rubbing between my hands for a minute or so!
