Dummy weaning?

When should I wean my LO off a dummy? We gave her a dummy at 6 days old (wasn't my plan to but she would constantly cry and wouldn't settle - I know big mum error!) We are due to go on holiday next month and very paranoid about how she will handle the plane and her ears popping. Would I be best to just wait till we are back?

Not quite the same but With my first We were going to wean my her from bottles to cups then realised we were going on holiday and it would just be easier to wait till we were home so we just did it when we got back. I think waiting a month won't make that much difference:) x

my son is obsessed with his dummies and i just know we’re going to struggle weaning 😵‍💫 i would personally wait until after the holiday

Honestly, I haven’t even bothered 😂 my LB has had them from day 1 and his auntie who works in a nursery said to leave it till he understands what’s going on rather than him just kick off and scream. I know it’s controversial but I’d rather he understood and he chooses to give them away to the dummy fairy 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is literally nothing wrong with giving your little one a dummy, no mum error at all! It’s a comfort thing and I don’t think it should be taken away completely until they are able to understand or they go off it on their own. My little boy only gets his for nap and sleep time now and he’s quite content with that. He will happily hand it to me when he wakes up ☺️

Aww don’t think of it as a mum error, they actually recommend dummies for 0-6 months now as reduces risks etc…
I haven’t even started weaning my daughter. My son gave his to Santa at 2.5 but I think before that I just took it away during the day and gave it back for naps, bedtime and when he
hurt himself and really needed comfort.
This is what I plan to do with my daughter but I’m in no rush. We just went away for a week with my partner’s family and lots of comments were made 😬 I just said it’s our choice when we wean her off and we’ll do it when she’s ready 🙃 lol…
My sister weaned hers by going to stay with my mum for a week and ‘forgetting’ to take one but it was a horrible few days. Best to wait until they understand they are giving up I think and just limit the time they are allowed to use it xx

I think it’s hard until they understand a bit better, we did it at about 3 with our son and it worked almost immediately as he gave it to the ‘dummy fairy’

Admittedly I think our little girl is more attached to it but if we took it off her she’d be really upset as she wouldn’t know why so will leave it a little longer

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
