Multiple wake ups 😭

Hey mummas my 5 months old is still waking almost every 3 hours! I am so damn tired please tell me I’m not the only one? Everyone else I see their baby is sleeping through the night! I know it’s normal to wake during the night but I thought by now she would at least sleep a longer stretch

Came out of our 4 month regression not slepeing through a sleep cycle. We have improved but still waking up every 2 to 3 hours 🙋🏼‍♀️ hungry bubba over here.. had to change to safetly co sleep for the 2nd half of night.

One minor detail I helped first time round is, when everyone seems to have a sleeps through the night baby, some people classify "sleeps through" differently. One view is if they wake to feed then go back to sleep its still sleeping through. This helped me alot.

It gets better.. it really does.

Try and increase the amount the baby is eating during the day (either solids or milk). If you’re breastfeeding, try giving a bottle of formula at night time instead or as a top up.

That helped us. My baby was hungry and I wasn’t producing the right amount of milk and it was very watery so not the fatty good stuff. Once we switched to formula at night, she slept a solid 6 hours straight!

What's babys day sleep looking like? My LO was waking every 2-4 hours during the night, sometimes for two hours at a time 😴 We found out he was overtired when we corrected his day naps, now he sleeps 12 hours through the night (sometimes I need to get up once or twice just to pop his dummy back in, but then straight back to sleep)

she’s having 2 hour wake windows but only sleeping for around 45minutes at a time during the day! Unless it’s a contact nap but I’m trying to not contact nap

Hey Emma, you are definitely not the only one. I can totally empathise with you, it is SO exhausting having the multiple wake ups and it feels like you will never sleep again. It's so tough looking around seeing other babies of a similar age sleeping through. I don't have any actual sleep advice, sorry, I wish I did, but my 18 month old still hasn't ever slept through the night. He is now starting to have longer stretches without me changing anything. We have been to sleep school, had a private sleep consultant and 2 X different online sleep programs in the past to try and help him to sleep more. So feel free to DM me and I can tell you more about all of those options. None of the options were the right fit for our family unfortunately, but am happy to share our experience of what it was like.

is she on 3 naps?

Avatar

depends on the day, sometimes it’s 3 naps sometimes 4

at 5MO the maximum wake time for a day is 9/9.25 hours, so if you did 5 2hr wake windows on 4 naps, your LO could be overtired. I was stuck in the same boat of perpetual overtiredness and MOTN wakes for ages, until I realised my LO was just so overtired (and spent hours reading 😂) now he does his three solid naps and sleeps, finally.

everytime I put her down she seems to just wake after 30 minutes or so unless I contact nap! I don’t know how to get her to sleep longer in her bed during the day it’s so stressful 🤦🏼‍♀️😭

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
