So I currently only claim child benefits, my maternity pay is over, I’m looking for child care but the waiting lists are untill December next year I don’t live near my family so can’t get anyone to mind baby and I can’t work untill she’s in nursery, my partner works but earns over the required amount for UC but it’s not enough to provide for 3 and we live with his parents so we can’t afford a house atm as he’s paying them rent money too plus whatever bills he has , I’m literally stuck I can’t live off £96 a month, I am the main carer but all my money went on providing for baby now I have nothing, the whole lot of child benefits each month gets spent on her food, milk, nappies ect for the month so I can’t even buy myself food I’m literally living off pot noodles / microwave foods that are £1 or lower to get by 😩

You get £17 when pregnant and it goes up to £34 a month. You just have to be on universal credit

I thought it was only for milk and Veggies, but when I go shopping I just ask them to take £17 off my card and they always do .. even if I don't have £17 of Veggies and milk

you can also buy tinned stuff like lentils and chickpeas with it, but it works on everything as long as you have something in your basket which is accepted like milk fruit veg tins

I know that's my point. I use it for anything. I always for £100+ shops and tell them to deduct £17 or £34 off the bill. Weather or not if its for the items they say to use it for.

like said I use it for anything. Not just what they advise me to buy with it.

mine has declined before when I've tried to buy it without any approved items on it!
