Group strep B test

I had mine done yesterday. My doc said it was a bacteria that grows in the colon that can travel the lady bits. She said it’s normal to have and if you do it isn’t bad. However when the baby is born because their immune system is down it can be harmful to them. She said I wouldn’t get my results until I was in the hospital and they would just give antibiotics at the hospital if I was positive. If you have a c section you don’t need the antibiotics because the baby won’t come in contact with it.

If you’re normal that means you don’t have it. Group B Strep is just a bacteria that’s found. It’s not uncommon to have it and doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you. But I can cause issues with your baby if they aren’t aware of it. But sounds like you’re good to go.

How far along were you when you got your test? I’m 34 weeks and waiting to be tested still.

I’m 37 weeks and 3 days my due date is Oct 1st 😳so he’s almost here lol but they said the test is generally done at 37 weeks

They said mines came back positive smh
