Hello my 7 week old was put on a new formula for a cow milk allergy and painful gas but she doesn't seem to like the new formula?? I just tried it for the first time and she's not really drinking much of it. But her stomach also looks distended and feels hard so could it just be gas? I'm not sure what to do

I recommend using Bobbie formula, it’s been a total life saver!! Maybe try bicycle kicks to help relieve trapped gas for now?

Have you done the gradual change over? 1 scoop per 24 hours to be switched out? My lg got put on nutramigen and it smells vile but she was fine by the end of the 5 days of the transition x

Nutramigen is what she was put on too and it's definitely vile, I asked the pharmacist about the change over and they said just do it right away and looked at me like I was retarded for suggesting mixing it

It could be a case of she's used to milk causing pain so assumes it will be the same. My son's on nutramigen and the first week was hit and miss with him drinking it as he reacted like it would cause pain. I will also add it takes 6 weeks to detox the body of dairy so she will have discomfort during this time if it's really not improving or after 6 weeks she not better she may need swapping to an amino based formula. Feel free to message me Hun if you need help/advise

id highly recommend doing the mixing as that’s what I was told by my doctor and HV. Especially if they are having wee tummy problems and obv the milk is very different so will be a different taste too. Replace 1 scoop per 24 hours so if 5 scoops do 1 of nutramigen and 4 of normal and then swap out 1 each 24 hour period and then they’ll get used to the taste and it won’t be so harsh on their tummy just changing them over x

It’s also on the NHS guidelines on their site as well so unsure why the pharmacist looked at you like that….😂

@Jen I'm actually going to call her pediatrician in the morning and see what he thinks about mixing and if that doesn't work. I ended up feeding her the old stuff for tonight, just wanted her to eat after barely touching the nitromigen all day

just realised you’re in the US so the NHS guidelines won’t exist 🤦🏼♀️🤣 but yeh, that’s what I was told and a few other people I know too. Definitely worked for us

It can take like 2 weeks for their tummies to adjust to new formula.
