I am a unit head in a nursery with children age 16-24 months. I am 34 weeks and just looking some advice really as am unsure what to do. I am due to finish work next Friday on annual leave before my maternity starts.
I have a child which I sent home today with potential chicken poxs. I have never had chicken pox. Do you think I am higher risk now in my last few weeks? Or will I be okay to continue to work to next week?

As you've not had it before, I would contact your midwife as soon as possible for advice x

Go to your gp they can do a blood test to see if your immune to chicken pox! But with you never having it before I wouldn’t risk it as it can cause serious complications x
I am more worried as am 34 weeks that it will effect the baby, I will contact my midwife today. Thank you for all off your replies x

I was exposed a little earlier on than you, I was unsure if I’d had chicken pox so rang triage. They tested my blood to see if I had antibodies, whilst they were testing my blood they advised I stay at home until I found out whether I’m immune or not. Thankfully I was but she explained if I wasn’t I would need a course of antibiotics and a scan to check baby xxxxxx
