MAM Teat sizes šŸ¤

So my LB is almost 13 weeks and is currently between size 1 and size 2 teats. He only has 5 oz as he is sick if he has more so I’m assuming 5oz is his max atm. With the size 1’s, he takes almost an hour to feed and he gets quite upset with what I assume is how slow the flow is…but his wind seems better and he doesn’t dribble milk while feeding. But If I give him a size 2 teat to remedy this, he drinks it in about 15/20 minutes (with a winding break in middle and at the end) but then hiccups a lot and tends to dribble the milk from the corners of his mouth when drinking and sometimes chokes on the flow too. I don’t know what’s best to do and I can’t find the MAM equivalent to a variflow teat. I tried giving him the variflow tommee tippee ones so that he can feed at his own pace but he wouldn’t take the TT bottles.

I do pace feed him and he’s more upright when feeding and for half hour after to help with his reflux…just not sure what else to do 😩 .

Every baby is different but from my experience my LO took a little while to adapt to teat 2 (was dribbling etc where she wasn't before) but now she drinks the same as she did on teat 1. I changed as she was getting bored during feeds and often not finishing. She seems much happier now (although have to make sure I pace feed as she guzzles) x

I’m literally having this problem! My little one is also on 5oz and gets quite sicky after feeds. Number 1 to slow and number 2 I feel like she guzzles

thank you for such a fast reply! He seems to prefer the size 2 (and my back/shoulder ache prefers the size 2 too ahha) but it’s just the dribbling and hiccuping. I might try to speak to my HV about getting her to check our pace feeding routine to make sure I’m definitely doing it properly. Haven’t changed method from when I was shown it when we moved from BF to bottles but might be nice to get some tips from her. Thank you lovely! Nice to know there’s some hope left after all aha

it’s a nightmare isn’t it? Feel like they need a 1.5šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£. We’ve been trying size 2’s for a while but he just seems to down them and then is either really hiccupy or really sick 😩 xx

I’m in exactly the same position! My little boy is 12 weeks today and I have tried to move him onto the mam 2 teat but dribbles a lot and seems to choke. X

I had the same issue when I put my 14 week old onto teat 2 two weeks ago. She still slightly dribbles it but she's adapting to it much better than the first few days. Maybe see it out and do what you're doing such as pacing the feed and sitting him up because that's exactly what I did xx

Try lansinoh slow flow, they’re between a 1 & a 2 MAM… They fit MAM bottles! My Lb is 12w3d and just changed to them now and they’re perfect x

I think it just takes them a few days to get used to the new flow. Putting my girl on the 2st early helped with her wind massively as she guzzles and it was causing more wind- but it did take a few days for her to not have total milk chin when she’d finished xx

My 12 week old is in a similar position. He's on size 0 teats as we tried him on the size ones and he was constantly being soooo sick!
He normally drinks 7oz bottles (within 20 minutes or so) but over the last couple of days is being really fussy and stopping feeding at 4-5oz. He isn't crying for more but just doesn't seem interested!
I'm going to try him back on size one teats but been advised if that doesn't help then to try the lanisoh teats - we also use MAM bottles xx

@Victoria This is actually really handy to know - don't really want to change his teats and cause further problems if he's actually happy on them!
Thankyou!!
& I know its crazy, where does the time go😫 only feels like yesterday we were bringing him home!🄺
I'll defo try them - surely he cant be on size 0 forever 🤣🤣xx

If the feed is taking an both I’d say it’s definitely too long and he shouldn’t use size 1 anymore. That length of time they’re probably burning more energy eating than what they’re consuming.
It does take some time (some items up to a week) for them to settle in a new teat. I’d persevere longer with the size 2 and I’m sure you’ll notice the improvement taking it.

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong šŸ¤”. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7
