I’m supposed to get induced a week today at 41 weeks if she doesn’t come before and just would love to have an idea of what to expect, how they do it! Thanks

Hey so I had an induction with my first. They first use a gel to see if you dilate with that. Otherwise the drip. The increase it quite fast if you’re tolerating. Contractions I felt ran along my back. I didn’t know that was contractions. Keep moving. They expect you not to eat in case of c section. Btw do what is best for you there is no award for doing the birth medicated or unmedicated.

I can’t remember it super clearly but I believe we got to the hospital they did a little dilation check (I was only 1 cm) then hooked me and my belly up to monitors, started me on pitocin which got the contractions and dilation going fairly quickly, they broke my water (didn’t hurt but felt like I was peeing my pants 😂) gave me an epidural and shortly after my daughter was born. All in all I think I had a great birth experience and would love to be induced again, I loved having it scheduled so I could have everything prepared instead of constantly worrying about when it would happen, if I would make it to the hospital on time, or if I had everything ready to go.

How far along were you when you were induced?

I was actually only 38 weeks as my baby had fetal growth restrictions

My induction and labor were 5 days long. It's all pretty much a big blue, fingers, beeping, more medicines, very little sleep, people always in and out.

Very positive elective induction at 39 weeks. Went in at 1.5 cm, got the foley balloon until I was 4. Broke my water. Labored for another 6 hours, got to 6 cm, got epidural. Labored another 4 hours. Pushed for 45 minutes. Arrived at 5:30 AM- baby was born at 11:10 PM. I also think induction saved her life because she had a triple knot in her chord and I am so thankful for the constant monitoring

I was induced due to gestational hypertension. They started me off with something to help soften the cervix and did a cervical check a couple hours later to determine if I needed a second dose. From there, they let things progress naturally for awhile. In the evening, my contractions started to slow back down so they started me on pitocin. Contractions definitely intensified, but were bearable until my water broke. Once it broke, I was begging for the epidural, and my sweet little girl was born 2 hours later after just 10 minutes of pushing. The whole process took around 16 hours or so. My medical team gave me as many choices as they could throughout - from whether or not to manually break my water to finding ways to encourage natural ways to progress labor to help delay using pitocin. I would have preferred a natural birth, but I had really great nurses that helped make the best of it

Started with the balloon and then sent home. Got called in the next day and they removed the balloon and broke my membranes and then started me on the drip. Drip took pretty immediately and I started having contractions.
The drip needed turned off and on again 2 or 3 times because it was causing me to contract too much. I did get the epidural because I needed the relief to breath.
From ARM to birth was 12 hours and ended in an emergency c section

I was induced at 40 weeks. Had to be dilated with balloon and cytotec before starting pitocin. The while process took 26 or so hours. I only had to push for 15 mins to get her out though.
