Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

I was induced on the 26th of Feb and had my daughter on the 1st of march. The induction itself was fine I got a few niggles and pains but didn't need pain relief that was with the gel. When I went down to delivery suite I had the epidural before the drip so was more manageable but I did still feel each contraction but more of like a pressure pain if that helps at all? X

My water broke then nothing happened so I had to be induced. The first thing they gave me was Misoprostol to get contractions going and I was in pain but it was manageable. Then they started Pitocin and that was awful so I got an epidural. I would not want to be induced again if possible.

If I could go back and not be induced with my first child, I would do so. She wasn’t ready yet and there was literally no medical reason to do so. But I was young and trusting of my doctor. The pitocin made my contractions unbearable and I only slept through the pain because of whatever medication I was on. I had the epidural that evening because I was scared into I feel like. It caused her oxygen to drop dangerously low and I was placed on like 80% oxygen. The epidural made it hard to push and they wouldn’t let me push during a contraction, which after having 2 more kids makes absolutely NO SENSE. She ended up sliding backwards in the birth canal, forceps had to be used which caused me to have 2nd degree tearing. She pooped in the sac and inhaled it so I didn’t even get to touch her until she was 2 days old in the NICU.
Since then I’ve had two sons. One at home and one in the car. Neither on purpose and neither nowhere as difficult as it was with my daughter.

I’ve been induced twice and had good experiences both times. I can’t speak for everyone, but it did take some time since my body wasn’t ready, but I was started on pitocin right away and they gradually increased it as time went on. They had to break my water for me (which didn’t hurt at all) the first time because my baby was content where he was! Happy to answer any more questions!

My experience was quite bad with being induced as I knew the contractions are heavier. I was pressured even though I kept asking my midwives to wait as I felt my son active and well.
After getting induced I lasted 16 hours of really bad pain before I got epidural. I still wasn’t dilated after 17 hours and since it was middle of the night I settled for a c section even though that was definitely not what I wanted. Recovery from c section was not easy for me at all. My experience taught me to have more autonomy over my body and trust myself because I felt like my son wasn’t ready to come out yet and knew that it wouldn’t work. Son was healthy throughout. All I can say is regardless of what you choose to do what feels right for you and your baby… no one knows better what you need than yourself.
I highly regret not speaking up for myself during that time.
Long story short; what ever you choose do it because you feel comfortable with the idea not out of pressure from others.

I was terrified of being induced but it wasn't all that bad. They broke my waters and ended up putting me on the drip. It was no where near as bad as I thought and I managed a 8lb 15 oz baby on gas and air!

I got induced on the 39 week mark with the Foley balloon. Super uncomfortable, cramps for hours. Then midnight went to the hospital to check in as planned. Then in the morning around 7am they took it out and broke my water for me and immediately felt contractions, asked for epidural right away after they broke the water lol

I’ve never gone into labour naturally so i couldn’t comment on that but i’ve had 2 induced labours and i would say they were painful but manageable, i opted for gas and air. My first was just a pessary and the second was a hormone drip, the difference i would say is the pessary brought them on slowly whereas the drip brought them thick and fast but in terms of pain wise i would say they were about the same

Went way better than I thought!
Induced at 37 weeks because of high BP. Got an oxytocin drip and my body responded well to it. I labored from about 7pm Monday -1pm Tuesday when my baby was born. My first labor was under 48 hrs so I wasn't surprised it went so fast.
My cervix dilated on its own so we didn't need pitocin or a foley balloon, and I gave birth without an epidural because I wanted to feel and push with my contractions.
Got my water broken late the first night, maybe early Tuesday morning. Pain jumped up to 7/8. He was out in under 10 minutes from the time I felt I needed to 'poop' in 3 or 4 pushes at 9lb.
My team was great and my Dr made quick work of my 2nd degree tearing which honestly I'm sure was more his size (9lb) & my pelvic floor dysfunction than anything else. I feel it went very well despite my hesitation initially to induce. Felt very fortunate I was able to get right up and pee after my stitches to shower and get hot water over my body after birth while my husband held our baby.

I was induced with my son. Definitely did the epidural but I have back problems. Outside of that was just a long wait for my water to break, but once it did he was out before the doctor could get back to the room.

Came back to add my plan was always unmedicated birthing like I did with my first, mindset and preparation plus knowing your own pain tolerance make a HUGE impact whatever you choose. I have fibromyalgia and am in significant pain regularly so giving birth was honestly less painful than when I fractured my tailbone and shattered my wrist, and once it was over I felt euphoric. The recovery was uncomfortable but that's birth regardless. What was worse was breastfeeding cramps in my uterus after giving birth, but nine months no cramps and a shrinking organ didn't help lol.

Hello i was induced on Tuesday evening and gave birth to my baby girl by the next day lunchtime.
I had the prostin gel, which for me worked so quickly and only on 1 try (as I am quite sensitive to all medications generally).
I was scared about induction honestly and it was similar to what was expected. I was able to cope with my Tens machine and some pain relief in the first few hours after the gel, it was uncomfortable but manageable. Waters broke naturally a few hrs later. Once I started dilating faster about 8 hrs in however, pain was really bad .
After that my contractions came so quickly I didnt even have time for any of the pain relief options I had wanted except for gas and air as my baby was bursting out so fast! My active stage was about 1 hour in total and very very intense . I am glad to have avoided needing pitocin as I cant imagine how much worse it would be. I also ended up with 2nd degree tear as I felt unable to control my pushing as I had everything happening so fast.

I would say be aware and know your body, i maybe should have insisted on more pain relief earlier which may have made my induction experience better.
My recovery (despite the tear and significant blood loss) has acruslly been really good. I hope anyone getting induced has a great team looking after team during recovery. Everyone at our hospital was wonderful !

I've had one naturally and one induced. Honestly I preferred the induction as we had a really calm morning in the delivery suite, joking with our nurse after my waters were broken (I had been having irregular contractions for a few days)
I got the drip at 11.30am and baby girl was born at 12.21, sadly this means I did not have time for the epidural I asked for but it was manageable
