Try and get your exemption certificate off your midwife or gp now. Maybe see if they can backdate it to the start of your pregnancy but if im being honest the same thing happened to.my sister and they would only do the exemption from when she applied so she had to pay the fine. Think is was £80

Do you have a photo of your MATB1 on your phone you could show as proof? Just till you get the certificate 🤦🏻♀️ I wasn’t aware you could be fined…. Every prescription I’ve had in the last 37 weeks no one’s even asked me to pay or see any proof🤷🏻♀️

happened to me!! i contacted them and explained how i’d never heard of the certificate or been asked for one and then i asked my midwife to apply for me. i didn’t have to pay the fine in the end but had to pay for the prescription. load of shit tbh🤣

This happened to me! Turns out midwife hadn’t done it for me. When I phoned and she eventually done it and sent it off they will only backdate for 4 weeks so I got away with the fine but had to pay the prescription charge 🤦♀️

Thank you, i got hold of my midwife but she was only able to back date it 4 weeks so looks like i’ll be paying for the prescription jusy hope i don’t get a fine on top of that. going to call them tomorrow to explain

I sent them my MATB1 but now i’ve got the certificate as well even tho it’s only backdated four weeks.. so looks like i’ll be paying for the prescription and maybe a fine even tho i fit the criteria. usually i go to the pharmacy no questions asked but i ordered some through pharmacy2u which ask you about ur exemption so i assume that’s where i went wrong xx

i’m going to give them a call tomorrow and say the same, i wasn’t aware it was an actual certificate you needed to physically have 🤣

The NHS business authority will randomly check a certain number of exemptions each month and they have selected one of yours. Unfortunately as you don't have the certificate you are not exempt - it's a ridiculous system.
