After 111 told us to go to a&e last night, we found out 7 week old baby girl has cows milk intolerance. So we changed to non cows milk formula at 5am this morning. She finally seemed settled this afternoon and enjoying the formula, and now she’s going mad for hunger but won’t drink it. Has anyone else had this? Is it just the change of formula? How long until she gets used to it? Any help would be so, so appreciated!

Hey love same boat here. So my first advice is it's going to take 6 weeks to detox their body of dairy and it's a long road but hang in there. You'll gradually see improvement then at 6 weeks they should be much better if they aren't you need a different type of formula that's amino based. The cmpa milk is thinner so can come back up easily so carobel will be a great option to thicken it. My second advice is prep it exactly as the tin says so it's safe to consume (if it's nutramigen the best thing to do is get all your bottles washed and sterilsed while the kettle is boiling then fill them up seal them and leave them on the side as it's a room temp formula until you need to add the powder shake and serve).
My son was like this the first few days of nutramigen and we realised it was because he assumed the milk would make his belly hurt to refused it so we just had to persevere and offer it regularly until he would take it.

I hadn’t realised anyone had replied. I’ve just noticed the bell icon shows you when someone replies on your posts.
Thank you so much for all this info, that’s really interesting. I can’t believe it takes so long to get it out of their system. She took to the formula after a good few days thankfully. The issue we have now with her is her wind is so hard to get up, feeds are now taking 2-3 hours. It is so draining!! Did you find that with the wind too? How long was it a struggle for you and your little man?
Thanks so much!

It can be harder to wind as they drink slower. How is she now? So at the 6 week mark he was a new baby and now 4 months on the he's a million times better x
Oh is that why it’s harder to wind them. She’s getting so much better day by day, today she took the milk almost like she does my expressed milk thankfully.
Have you looked into reintroducing it to your little man? I haven’t got round to the looking at the ladder thing we loosely got told about. So lovely to chat about it with someone! X
