5 week old with colic

Been to the gp today as our little boy will not stop crying or settle, been told he has colic.. does anyone have any solutions to help? GP said we just have to “ride it out” he said infacol and gripe water don’t work and there’s nothing that he can prescribe. I am going insane as he literally does not stop screaming, he sleeps for about 5 hours max in a 24 hour period the rest of the time he’s awake he’s crying 😭

My three week old has colic- try infacol or colief
Also bought the baby moov pillow

Have worked wonders here ♥️

Good luck mama, my GP told me the best prescription he could give me was patience as it goes away in months 3 to 4... thankfully my Health visitor was much better

snap! My wee one is 4 weeks old on Sunday and has colic, last night he was up from 12-9am just not settled unless he was on boob, and then even sometimes on boob he’d be fussy… literally I did not sleep one wink- felt like a zombie all day and really very flat because of it. BUT colic is normal baby behaviour and it WILL pass is what I keep telling myself. We went out a walk but he wouldn’t settle in his carrier with me but settled with my partner- not sure if he could maybe smell milk off me and got frustrated when he couldn’t have it! Going to try expressing enough milk for my other half to take over a night feed but also, the health visitor said when it happens again to consider a bottle of formula to settle them? She also said to remember that your baby is fine, they are getting love and attention and that make sure you look after yourself, ie go for a walk with or without baby to give yourself a breather and definitely nap when he does nap

It’s so so hard but it’s only temporary!

I had my 4 week old daughter at doctors tonight and he has said she has colic. He advised gripe water and colief. I went and brought them and after 1st dose of gripe water and colief in her bottle she managed to poo and has been more settled. When she woke for her feed at 2am she managed to pass wind easier x

Hey lovely, I could be totally wrong so please don’t quote me on this.. however a friend I know was in the same situation and her little boy would just cry and scream all day and night, she tried everything and it always made him worse… I asked if they’d tested him for an intolerance and she said they wouldn’t and just put it down to colic but she changed his formula to the lactose one and he hasn’t had any episodes since and is actually now sleeping through the night!! If you are breastfeeding then I am most likely wrong and don’t want you to go out your way and buy something that you don’t need but if you are feeling out of options and have the money to try (it may not work so don’t want you to get something that you don’t want to waste) I hope it doesn’t last too much longer for you🤞🏼

Thank you all so much, it’s so hard isn’t it. I am exhausted. I know it will get better in time. I just feel sad on him if I could take it away from him I would. We’ve started colief this weekend so hoping that starts to work soon xx

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
