So it’s been around a while that newborns who are breastfed need vitamin D supplement. However, they’ve discovered that now the mother can take it and it’ll benefit the mom and baby. My doctor said I can take 6,000 IU of vit D to benefit me and baby while breastfeeding. Anyone else taking vit D too? Just wondering how common it is for mom to take it

I usually take it and take big doses because I’m highly deficient on it since I’m from South America but didn’t know about this that it could pass to baby. My understanding was that very little passes to them so I had already bought some drops of it to have handy on days when I cannot put baby by a window to get some sun, which is my first plan at least until weather allows it.
I’ll see if I can find research on this, thanks for sharingz

of course:) very little does pass to baby but it definitely benefits them too
