I’ve had iron deficiency since 18 weeks pregnant, the midwife said it was unusual to have such low iron in second trimester. Im now 29 weeks and it’s still low, I’m under an obstetrician because my pulse is high due to the low iron, also have muscle weakness and extreme fatigue. Im on iron tablets but can’t take anymore so trying dietary too. Any tips? Midwife said it’ll be worse now due to blood volume increasing by 50% too.

I’ve had this throughout pregnancy too, they have now booked me in for an iron infusion, and I eat lots of iron rich foods too

Floradix

I’m 28weeks and just been diagnosed with low iron 😵💫 Am really hoping the meds help bring back some energy 🤞🏻Am going to try diet alongside too!

Floradix only has a very small amount of iron in, like 17mg, I’m currently on 600mg

I recommend incorporating more beetroot and leafy greens in your diet. Vitamin C helps with iron absorption and calcium and certain whole grains reduces it.
It might be worth seeing a nutritionist to help you plan high absorbency meals.

The comments from you midwife are different to what I was told. My midwife said that once low they are unlikely to go back to normal during pregnancy due to what your body is having to do.

Beetroot , Spinach and pomegranate will help a lot and you can see difference
Also add Vitamin C for iron absorption
I was also on low iron but these helped me

B12 alongside iron

Liquid iron is more easily absorbed. I take spatone alongside another supplement. Also make sure you get vitamin C 20 minutes before your iron supplement/dietary source as it helps absorption, and avoid tea/coffee within a couple of hours of it (even decaf).

Same here, I've got low iron levels, the tablets make my sickness completely worse so I stopped taking them. I have tried iron gummies as these were a little better to take but I'm trying iron rich diet. So loads of leafy greens and cereal that have high iron like shredded wheat

I'm just about to start iron tablets too so I'm with you here. Leafy greens, lentils, pulses, spinach etc. I'm sure you've heard it all but Google if you aren't sure. Also make sure you're taking vit c with the iron so it is absorbed properly. Easily done by drinking orange juice with your tablets x
