What do I classify my child as?
Hey all
I've been a lil confused on what to put on forms that I fill out for my baby when it comes to race/ethnicity. This is my 1st biracial child so I'm completely unaware of how this works.
So I consider myself Jamaican-American. My mom is from Baltimore, Maryland & my dad was from Jamaica. My daughters father is half Puerto Rican & half Cuban. So my child would be considered half Black and half Hispanic.
So what would I put down for my daughter as far as race? Should I put Black, Hispanic or both? What would her ethnicity be? I know I probably sound dumb right now but I'm sooo confused lol I tried asking her dad and he says he doesn't know lol
Do anyone else have biracial children? What do you classify them as?

I'd say black Hispanic, as she's half of each. 🤷
I put black and Hispanic for mine. I’m Hispanic, dad is black and Puerto Rican
Black Hispanic. It's what I put for my half black Hispanic daughter. But when she grows up she can put whatever she identifies with most 🤷
In the UK, you'd tick the box that says Mixed ethnicity: black other and white other (as both multiple)
It pays to put/use all the ethnicities your child may be. So if they are black Hispanic, then use both.
