Sharing here because I want to know if any other mother experienced this…
Exactly one week ago I lost my baby boy at 22 weeks pregnant. I unexpectedly went into labor on Wednesday morning (08/30/23) and he passed away within 12 hours… for the next 48 hours I sat through medication after medication trying to get my body to dilate but at the same time keep my vitals under control. Through that 48 hrs my placenta had ruptured and I was at high risk of hemorrhaging. At the end of the 48hrs it was decided that for my own health and safety that I go under for a D&E procedure. So on Saturday (09/02/23) I went under for the procedure and due to how the procedure is performed I wasn’t allowed to see or hold my son.
The hardest part about this past week is being mad at myself for not pushing through and having him vaginally. On one hand I understand what we did was best for my health, at the same time I feel like a shit mom for “cutting corners” But I know that’s ridiculous
I just need someone to confide in the fact I wasn’t able to see or hold him
If you can relate please message me ❤️
Thank you ❤️

Hey, I’m so so sorry to hear your precious baby was stillborn, and that you were robbed of the opportunity to hold him 🧡
You absolutely did not cut corners - you did what you had to, to save your own life in scary circumstances. I think it’s safe to say pretty much anybody would have made the same decision.
I had a D&E in May after I had to terminate my much wanted pregnancy for medical reasons. I sometimes still feel so guilty for choosing a surgical method as it means I didn’t get to see or hold my baby, but at the time it just felt like the less traumatic option. Even though it’s different circumstances to your story, it means I can relate a little.
Please be kind to yourself, allow yourself to grieve and surround yourself with love right now. Thinking of you 🧡
