Hi, I'm mixed feeding my baby. I offer him breast during the day and formula at night to help him stay full. Lately during the night feeds he will be fussy, drink a little bit from his bottle and will push it out. I've tried to offer him bottle but he will absolutely not have it. I give up and then offer him boob which will be a tedious process of him latching and letting go and then getting frustrated. This can go on or upto to 2-3 hours. This has only been a recent development. For the last 2 1/2 weeks, this has worked beautifully for us. Nothing has changed. He is 3 weeks old and my nipples cant continue with this. Anyone else experience anything similar? Have any advice?

What bottles do you use? We have the same thing. Bub took bottles first from the nicu and then happily switched between boob and bottle but then we went through an insane cluster feed and boob was just so much easier and now he’s not a fan of the boob. We’ve also tried me leaving the room and dad do the bottle and it’s such an effort. We’ve tried pigeon teets which he liked better than others but wondering if we try minbie next
I'm using the tommee tippee bottles. I was wondering if i need to change the teats. Maybe that will help. I also have low breast milk supply so i worry he isn't getting much

Milk supply can be interrupted if not offered 24 hours. Could it be that your supply is being affected? Have you tried pumping when you’re offering formula. The first 6 weeks are key for establishing supply - teaching your body how much milk your baby needs. Have you tried to speak to the lactation consultants at the hospital where you gave birth? It’s a free service here (Qld).

Yeah our guy wouldn’t take the newborn tommee ones, did take the super slow madela teet which they used at the nicu but since bf so much he doesn’t anymore and yeah best has been the pigeon teet which is at baby bunting or even the chemist. And our guy did take the bottle yesterday which was amazing, we just had to give it to him as soon as he showed the first sign of hunger. If he cries a bit it’s already too late. Best of luck!

also to add onto what Helen said you should have it the other way around if you’re not expressing at night, that’s when you get the best milk supply as your hormones at night change to increase it. 😊
I have tried expressing milk at night. I've only been able to get 60ml from both breasts after 25 mins of electronic pumping. How often should i try and express?

Can I askl what pump you use, I don't even get that much but we do as much of the breastfeeding as possible, maximum of two full bottle feeds a day , when expressing on a good run I get a max of 50ml from both breasts but when breast feeding I collect 30ml let down in the haakaa, offer bub the other boob , if he latches leave him there for 20 mins else use the let down from haakaa to finish feed, haakaa collection varies per feed but anywhere between 15- 30 MLS per feed cycle
I bought one off amazon called the autens breast pump. It's been quite good! do you pump one side and feed the other?

Nah I collect in Hakka when feeding, I find pumping hard while feeding. The haaka has been great, was recommended by my GP who specialises in paediatrics , I asked her for a referral to a lactation consultant and she recommended the haakaa instead

Also have you tried a nipple shield?
We mix feed and use two different bottles, pigeon wide neck and Avent. I also put EBM n haakaa milk in bottle and top up through the day to retain familiarity with bottle. Dad does the formula feeds
