Hi there, I’ve got a 3 week old and in the last few days my little one is waking up from her sleep with a painful cry squirming so hard to get her very soft poos out. She will
Also do this when breastfeeding. She will often arch back and pull away from the breast, but than go back to breast for comfort. I think she’s also experiencing reflux at same time. Once she gets the poo out she’s content. Is anyone else going through this? Is it just a stage or should I get her seen to by a doctor?

It could be She is still getting use to the feeling
my 6 week old does the same thing, it feels weird to them and it's quite uncomfortable for them as it is still a new feeling to them
In saying that if you are genuinely worried about it, you should go to the doctors, it's better safe rather than sorry is what I always say

Yep exactly the same! I think he's just working out how to poop/fart

My 3 week old is the same!

Our 3 week old does the same esp while feeding and trying to settle. He will go red in the face, be straining, arching back etc followed by a big fart eventually 😂

Mine did this but it was air building up from not latching right and had tongue tie but if she is latching great then shouldn’t be a problem just do leg exercises with her

Thank you all for your comments, it’s great to know that this is normal. There is so much to learn as a first time Mum.

Ditto seems normal but always worth asking your nurse or gp about it if worried. We’ve started trying to figure out when to do the leg kicks and kangaroo holds / back rubs to help him finish digesting before feeds. You’ll learn what helps your bub best in time too

I've also figured out mine gets super fussy and similar when overtired and trying to soothe. Stiff, kicking, and pulling on and off
