Mam bottles

At what age is it okay to use the big bottles and size 2 teats? They say newborn on them but I’m not sure if they’re a little too much for my 4 week old.

It depends on how well baby is feeding, if they're taking ages to drink or fall asleep or get annoyed, it's recommended to up a size. I kept mine on size 0 for the first 2 months, then size 1 and only just moved to size 2 at 4 months. As for the size of the actual bottle, it depends on how many ounces baby is drinking. I still use the medium size of 160ml because my little one is drinking 120-150ml

We’ve been using the big bottles since he was born and size 2 teats since 3 months - they were a bit fast for him before that so he couldn’t drink comfortably

Sorry to jump in here - I'm not a first time mum but this came up on my feed. I'd recommend staying with the slowest flow you can get away with, for as long as possible. The faster ones can cause more wind and tummy troubles. I moved up the sizes with my first, but with my second, I kept him on size 0/1 for months on end and he only had size 2 when he was nearly 1. It's better for pace feeding, basically, and I wish I'd known with my first! Just move up if you really have to like if the teat is collapsing with the strength of their suck, or they're really not happy with it, etc.

Also, if you need the bigger size bottles that's fine, but you can still put the slower teats on them for now.

Start off with size 0 for now. You will know when to move up a size when your little one starts getting frustrated and takes longer to drink as that means they would need a faster flow. Then move up to 1 then 2, same reasoning. What you don't want happening is your little one choking and aspirating on milk. I hope this helps! 😊

It depends on baby and formula youre using some formulas are thicker so better go up with teat ive got size 1 and 2 bottles my boy is 7 weeks and takes both well

I started my girl on the mam bottles with a size 2 teat at 6 weeks. She loves them, drinks them much better than her Nuk with the size 0, I unfortunately only have two currently so using a mixture of both bottles still till more mam bottles get delivered. I find she has waaaay less gas with the mam bottles and less spit up. So all depends on your baby!

My baby is 9 months and never gone Higher than the 1 teat he’s always got on with it fine so I’ve never changed it. He had reflux in the past so don’t want that returning

I think I used the big bottles when the small ones were too small and he was having more milk

My son is almost two months old and I'm using the size two teats on the bigger bottles and he is completely fine with them

I’m about to go up to the big bottles as she will be going up to 6oz soon but will keep the size 1 teats for a bit as I think she has actually only just got the hang of them and we probably should have used 0 teats much longer to start with! My baby is almost 8 weeks old x

Avatar

If you need the big bottles for the number of oz then just change the teats over to size 1…we’re on comfort milk which is much thicker so using size 2 for my 8 week old x

My little one moved onto the bigger bottles around 2 months age because the smaller bottles don’t make 6oz but only since 3 months have I started using size 2 teats

Avatar

I’ve just started teat 2 size and my little one is 4 1/2 months. All babies are different. I think teat 2 works from 2/3 months onwards so likely too early for a 4 week old

Avatar

Every child is different. My baby was using size 0 for 12 weeks because size 1 was too much. we then moved to size 1 then a few weeks later to size 2. If they are taking ages to feed and/or falling asleep on bottle or getting frustrated then try and increase the teat. It can take a good week to settle on a new teat.
When I first tried upping it, she was dribbling loads, she could keep up with the flow so we dropped back down.
It’s all trial and error

My baby is 6 months old and she has the size 2 teats, I switched her over at 4 months once she started to have 6oz bottles

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
