My feet ankles and legs have been swelling so much in the afternoon/evenings. I have days I even wake up and there still swollen. I brought this up at my last midwife appointment and was told to massage and elevate my legs. Just seeing if anyone else is suffering with this and what they are doing to help?

I suffered with that when I was pregnant and mine was because of preeclampsia. My midwife kept dismissing it saying elevate your legs and I’ll be fine.I checked my blood pressure and cut a long story short I was admitted and induced 2 weeks before she was due.
If you have a bloody pressure machine I’d check what you are on that. If it’s very high call up the midwife ward and they will direct you from there.
Thank you I’m going out to buy one today to keep an eye on. I also have another MW appointment tomorrow which I’ll bring it up again. I did read up it’s a symptom of preeclampsia so just been a little more worried than usual.

When you get it you want to focus on the systolic / diastolic.
If your systolic is higher than 120-129
& your diastolic is higher than 80 just call your midwife department. Mine was 153/92.
Ok thank you so much. I’ll check asap. If my BP is normal I guess I continue as normal. Did you feel your BP was high before you checked at all?

I kept getting really bad headaches that would not go. I felt dizzy shaky. That’s the only reason I did my bp also some days at my MW appointments my BP would be high and she’d just check it again at the end of the appointment and she wouldn’t be worried about it. Just told me to go home and rest. That’s why I took matters into my own hands and decided to do things my self.
If your bp is normal the first time you check it I would check it again the next hour that’s what they did to me in hospital.
Bless you! I’m glad you took matters in your own hands and everything worked out.
That’s how I am feeling, to start doing my own checks because my MW appointments are no longer than 10mins and there every 3-4 weeks. Thank you

I hope everything goes okay for you and your LO just do your checks everyday and keep a record so if anything changes your see it fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you x
