Early C section recovery

Hi,
I had a semi-elective C section on 12th sept at midday and was hoping to hear rough recovery timelines from other mamas please 🙏🏻 whilst jt was not fully elective, it definitely was not 'emergency' surgery and from what I have heard, this may make recovery easier.

I know I'm only day 2 and have a while to go!
I was discharged yesterday at 6pm, catheter was removed at 6am that morning and I managed to shuffle around the ward a bit and pee.
Found first night home difficult in terms of being able to do very little for my baby, and not get comfy in bed / difficult to reposition myself.
I also have discomfort at the very bottom of my back / bum maybe from sitting upright on it.

I feel like today I'm moving around more albeit still VERY slowly, and I'm finding it hard to stand up straight (still walking bending over a bit) although straighter than yday. My back feels super stiff like it is doing all the work of my core, and I have swollen feet.
No poo yet (!) but passing wind and peeing more comfortable.
BFing has luckily been fine.

Just wondering re general experiences of when walking / standing in general feels easier, which positions you found most comfortable to sleep in (lying flat feels v stretched for some reason), how you manoeuvred getting up from the bed etc, when your swelling settled if you had any, first poo advice, generally when you started to feel more human / like your insides aren't going to fall out, and less useless! Which I know is a stupid thing to say after having surgery!

Thankyou so much in advance xxx

I had an elective c section just over 5 weeks ago. I was feeling pretty OK within 5/6 days, and by 10 days, I was much more mobile and back out on hour long dog walks, but still tender when getting up from a reclined position. By 2 weeks ish I was almost back to normal.

I still have mild tenderness now and then (usually when I've overdone it a bit), but it's not stopping me from doing anything.

I had to sleep on my back for quite a while as laying on my side pulled on my incision and laying on my front squashed tummy,
0⁰ĺwhich was full of gas and quite uncomfortable.

My best advice is to keep as mobile as possible whilst trying not to overdo it as it will aid your recovery!

The first poop was rough. You'll want to avoid being even slightly backed up, so take something like lactulose or senna if you think that might be an issue. I wasn't backed up at all but found bowel movements uncomfortable for a good while.

I had an emergency c section and my biggest advice is take it easy! I rushed to get up and about and by day 4 was cooking all meals, putting washing out etc and ripped two stitches which led to infections.

For getting out of bed I recommend tying a sheet or something to the end of the bed (if you have a bed post like that) and using that to pull yourself up with your arms instead of stomach muscles! This was my god send!
It gets easier when your body feels ready just don’t rush; I thought I was healing super fast and thought I was super woman and that backfired massively😂😂

The swelling gets better aswell, at week 2 I took my compression socks off cause i was mobile and the swelling was going down loads and prior to that keeping your feet elevated really helps 💕

I had an emergency c section almost 6 weeks ago and safe to say I was not prepared at all. But I found I recovered pretty well - was walking around, just a bit slower than normal, by the time I left hospital, and only had slight pain for 2-3 days after. I was mindful of bending/getting to too quickly but I basically just carried on moving the way I had to whilst heavily pregnant if that makes sense? I also slept the same way I had whilst pregnant - on my side, no pregnancy pillow but had a pillow between my legs which seemed to relieve some pressure. Was able to drive after 2 weeks (nothing on my insurance to say I couldn’t) and even though I did get an infection, it cleared up in a few days with antibiotics. Was pretty much back to normal after 3 weeks

Definitely take some sort of stool softener if you can - I went just fine on day two but on day 5 I felt physically ill from trying to go as it was rock solid (sorry TMI I know).

I’m 2 weeks post elective c section today and would say yesterday was the first day where I felt back to my old self. I’m still being really careful but I can walk longer distances and get around easier. At times I forget that I’ve had major surgery! I’d say after day 5/6 things got much easier but definitely don’t push yourself and make sure you take it easy!

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?
