Just found out my 6 month old has a tongue tie. He is getting it released in 2 weeks. Feeling so frustrated because I asked my pediatrician months ago about oral ties and he rolled his eyes and told me to stay off the internet as tongue ties are “over diagnosed these days”. 😔🫠 we’ve been struggling with extreme reflux/regurgitation and it’s looking like his tongue tie might be the culprit. I wish I would have pushed more. I knew something wasn’t right so early on and I trusted my pediatrician. Looking for encouragement/tips from anyone who has gone through this.

Yes so glad your lo is getting it released. The Dr I took my baby to for his frenectomy said something like 70% of babies these days are born w tongue and or lip ties

My baby was able to latch so much better immediately aftera

wow. Ahhh, how was the aftercare? I’m so anxious!

My son had his done and it’s been so much better for him. It’s really a simple in office procedure. I was able to nurse my son right after and that calm him down immediately.

@Hannah the doctor we went to used a laser so it carterized the wounds as the incisions were made. No blood! So aftercare was I immediately nursed baby and then we had to do 2 tongue and lip exercises every 6 hrs for 2 weeks after to make sure the wounds didn't heal back together and that baby realized he could move his tongue more.

I’m the same boat as you love. I’m nervous about the after care though. Was it tough??!

The hospital my son was born at told me he was tongue tied but said it wasn’t a big deal. My pediatrician said if he was taking a bottle he was fine. I tried nursing for 2 days in the hospital and was syringe feeding him until we got home and gave him a bottle. He got looked at by a pediatrician dentist when he was ) weeks who said he was tongue and lip tied super bad and released both the same day. I also kicked myself for not taking my son in sooner but once he got it released, he started nursing. Don’t beat yourself up. The important thing is you’re getting it fixed now!

My baby had his removed at 4 months. And they told me when he was born he had a tongue tie and not to worry. Each doctor appt they said not to worry. But I wanted it released. So I kept pushing for it.
