My 6 month old has been weaned from 4 months on advice of the paediatrician and speech and language (I would have personally waited to 6 months if I could). She’s always had smaller quantities of milk and now she’s on food she loves it and eats loads and is on 3 meals a day happily. I feel she doesn’t drink as much however and am worried a ai know milk is still the main source of nutrition at this age. Should I be reducing her meals to make her drink more?

Normally babies arnt supposed to be on 3 meals until about 10 months but taking away a meal now could end up doing more harm than good. Why don’t you talk to your dr?
Yeah that was my thought but because I started her at 4 months I wasn’t sure if she’s essentially 2 months ahead or if I should be keeping her on one to two meals until that point. I want to make sure she gets enough milk but that’s always been a problem with her
My GP hasn’t been really helpful says to speak to paediatrician who has appointments in 3-4 months so not very helpful for me

My 8 mo is only on 2 meals a day! Every baby is different! Not every baby has the same amount of milk, so not every baby will eat the same 😊

I wouldn’t say that reducing meals would affect the amount of milk tbh, my LG has always been a big eater (though we didn’t properly start weaning until closer to 7 months due to her not sitting up by herself until then) but even when we did 3 meals a day she would have the same milk as always or even more sometimes, it was like her appetite increased 😅 if you’re concerned they’re not having enough milk I would try offering it little and often, it could even be the weather which affects how much they feel like drinking. If you’re formula fed maybe even try a different brand as it could be the taste? With breastfeeding even if it may not seem like much to you, your little one knows how to get the most milk in the most efficient way so it could just be that x
Thanks for the advice guys we’ve had trouble with her drinking enough from day one despite trying everything including switching to formula and changing formula and was the main reason for the early weaning. It’s reassuring to hear decreasing in food doesn’t always cause increase in formula intake. The main reason I upped from 2 to 3 meals is I have a toddler and when I’d give him lunch my baby would do her food growl and get quite upset if she didn’t have food as well
