Can you change a baby’s name on their birth certificate? Has anyone done this? Do you know how to?
We don’t think our baby’s name suits her or us and prefer our original choice.
Nothings set in stone we are just exploring the possibility

Not that I’m aware of - I think you can only change it by deed poll but you wouldn’t get a new birth certificate x

I had to make an amendment on my child’s due to the dads name being spelt wrong. 🙄
It costs £90 to make a change plus the cost of a new certificate (£11). This is the London price not sure if it’s different elsewhere.
You have to print a form from the government website. Once filled out you need to take it to your local registry office. Take your proof of identity too.
They will then make the request to change it. This can take 25 days. They should then contact you to let you know if the change is allowed. Xx

It's the same in Southampton/Hampshire as has said
Thank you anf . I will have a look into doing this. It’s a lot to pay but worth it if we aren’t sure on the name. We’ve been thinking about it for 8 weeks now. Xx

You can only change the birth certificate if there has been a mistake and requires a correction. If you want to change baby’s name it would have to be a change of name deed/deed poll. Hope that helps ☺️ x

Yeah you can change it but it costs £90
