Yellow discharge from newborn’s eye. Please help!

I noticed my newborn ( 2 week old ) has quite a bit of hello discharge from one of his eyes, which makes it sticky and difficult to open even. I use a cotton and sterile water to clean his eye but it doesn’t seem to help. Should I go to the doctor with this? In the pharmacy they didn’t sell me anything because he is a newborn. what else can I do?

Conjunctivitis. Just bath them with warm water and cotton wool. It’s basically just a little eye infection. It should clear in a few days if not then I’d go to drs

My son had that. It is from a blocked tear duct. It’s normal for newborns. I don’t remember specifically how long it lasted but it went away after a few months. It really bothered me as well and I did the same to clean it away, cotton and water. Like said it may be conjunctivitis but to be sure you can ask your pediatrician. In my son’s case it wasn’t.

I saw somewhere that breast milk (in place of the water) would help with a blocked tear duct. Im not sure how accurate it is tho. But it’s natural.

Clean with cooled boiled water from inside to out if you have not done so already. Use a separate pack of cotton wool pads to clean with. If the discharge keeps returning usually within 15 minutes seek medical advice via the GP, 111 or hospital. Baby may need antibiotics if it is an infection

It’s likely a blocked tear duct which is very common in babies. My son has it and had it from birth. He’s 8 months today and still has it. We have to clean his eyes 6/7 times a day. It’s not considered abnormal until 1 years of age apparently, but can clear up soon for some x

My son would get that from blocked tear ducts. There are YouTube videos that show you a massage technique you can do with your pinky finger around the eye to help with that, and I also would squirt a little bit of breastmilk in the inner corner of his eyes and massage it in while he would sleep

My baby had this on and off for the first couple months. I would wipe it as needed throughout the day with a clean cloth and warm water. Eventually it went away. I asked the pharmacist and that's what she said to do. If it becomes red, irritated or they seem bothered by it then I would go see the Dr.

My baby had this since birth for the first week, i used a syringe to squirt some breast milk in her eye and it cleared it up right away, hasn’t been an issue since. My midwife recommended it, and it worked wonders ☺️

Hey I've had this and it was a blocked duct. Google massage duct, literally the following day she was all cleared up. I couldn't believe it! Xx
