Lister Clinic @ The Portland

Hi everyone. We’re just about to start our first cycle of IVF at The Lister Clinic at The Portland Hospital. Has anyone had any experience there? Daunting trying to work out if we’re picking a good clinic. I’ve read ARGC has the “best success rate” at 62% but also read that these rates can be a bit misleading. Google reviews of both Lister @ Portland and ARGC are positive with a few negatives, so hard to tell! Thanks I’m advance!

Lister is a great clinic - I know many people with success from there. ARGC does have the best success rates but it comes at a very high price, and it is a very intense process there and they use immune drugs for most people so not necessarily the best for just starting IVF, prob better for recurrent failure when most people are more likely to need that approach.
Lister, CRGH and Evewell are all similar and meant to be brilliant.

That’s were I’ve been for the last two years for fertility, IVF and now maternity care. They’ve been incredible - happy to tell you more about it if you’d like to drop me a message? I was also born there 🐼😌

We’ve just got a ‘quote’ from The Lister but we live in Kent so just weighing it all up with the travel element.
My friend is 41 has just got a positive with ARGC but it has cost her A FORTUNE (obviously worth it but you know what I mean)

Thanks so much for your replies! Was also thinking ARGC but given we’ve already spent over £1000 on investigations/tests/clomid etc with Lister, wondered really how much better ARGC is as we’d have to spent several hundred pounds afresh with new repeat tests there, so feeling like I should stick with Lister. Having costed both, it seems to be roughly the same.

I’m working with Lister Dr Thum alongside my clinic in Scotland and have found them fantastic in comparison to my actual clinic. They make you feel like they really care and it’s not about money. ARGC have amazing results however it’s a very intense protocol. I know some people who have had to relocate to london for a month or so to manage to attend all the appointments as they give you blood tests every few days. Xx

We moved clinics to follow our consultant (Dr Farahani) to the lister at the Portland and were really happy with them. Excellent team, felt very listened to, and we had success.

Hi do you know roughly how much your friend paid? I hate to pry but also want to have an idea of whether they could be feasible for me.

nearly £24k I believe xx

Ouch, expensive, thanks

was this for 1 round? I’m with argc currently and it does add up because you do daily blood tests but I would say that 24k would probably be 2 full rounds? The procedure with icsi is about £4500 which is quite standard? X

Blood test

Im really nervous. Ive just had a blood test because I could possibly be pregnant again. Im only 9 months pp. please don’t judge me lol. I have been having symptoms but Im unsure on whether they are PMS or early pregnancy. Think id be around 3 weeks. However it won’t show up on a urine test. Has anyone else had this and only found out later and later than 12DPO? Im nervous for the results on Monday. I do really want another baby and we haven’t really been trying to prevent it but I also know it’s too soon. I think Id actually be upset if it comes back negative and I don’t know if thats wrong to feel that way at 9 months pp. we would love to have them close in age just wasn’t thinking this soon because honestly thought Id struggle this time around. I don’t know I suppose Im just getting this off my chest lol.

Positive PPROM stories

Been diagnosed with PPROM at 24+6 weeks. Completely out of my depth after having 3 straightforward pregnancies with no completions! I’ve been given steroids and am not having any contractions atm so I’m thinking they will let me go home soon with extra monitoring. Just looking for some positive stories and advice
