Lateral Ventricle measuring outside normal 🧠

Has anyone experienced being told at a growth scan that your baby has a larger than normal range lateral ventricle in their brain? Normal range is considered less than 10mm but our boys showed as 11mm yesterday on our first growth scan. I've never heard anyone mention it before. The doctor had us have a blood test to rule out a virus and asked for a follow up with a specialist consultant next week so they can scan again. We were walked to the reception to book the appointment for Tuesday but reception were unable to book it due to the system saying possible strike action dont book appointments, so they just took my phone number and were going to get in touch. She started running through possibilities and mentioned potential section but I zoned out a bit and can't remember what she had said before section (something I really don't want, I'd prefer the chance to be induced first). We are currently 32wk2d.

He was head down but she really struggled to get measurements because he was laid with his back on my right hand side. She tilted the scan bed so my legs were higher than my head to get all measurements. We've had a few call backs today to book us an appointment a week on Wednesday with our hospital consultant and then got a call to say that consultant would also like to refer us to the specialist at Fetal Medicine Unit at the bigger hospital in Leeds. They've phoned and booked us in for this Wednesday afternoon so hopefully it's just an off measurement. Think each appointment involves a scan so we'll get plenty chance to have it confirmed. We weren't told much about it so spent the weekend worrying. Hopefully they'll both be absolutely fine x

Hi Louise, now going through the same thing. 36 week growth scan and they’ve found 14.1mm..what was your outcome? X

@Andrea my little one is currently 11 days old. We were given the go ahead to birth naturally, I expected there would be restrictions on pushing but they said not. When we first spoke to a doctor she suggested we may have to have a c-section but it all depended on what further scans showed. Between this post and birth we had a specialist scan, an amniocentesis (it was optional) and an MRI all to confirm the size and rule out chromosome abnormalities being the cause. Thankfully the amnio came back OK and MRI confirmed the size as the same. We have just been to the hospital this morning for an ultrasound on baby's head for an accurate measure of the ventricles and then have an appointment next week to discuss the scan. If you're looking for more reassurance or to see others outcomes there is a great Facebook group called Ventriculomegaly that has thousands of people that are going through same or have children with varying ventricle sizes over the normal 10mm x

Thank you, I will definitely check that out! Our baby is also current weighing 7lb 13oz 😫 so I’m currently sat in a clinic about his size..and that’s after having all the jargon to process about this news in fetal medicine 😫 I’m broken!! Xx

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?
