I need help bad. My 6 week old son is severely struggling with gas, he's currently in bed, goes to sleep fine but is waking every half an hour screaming in pain, he has not had a solid nap today because of the pain either.
Ive tried everything, he's bottle pace fed upright, struggles to burp due to reflux, I've done bicycle legs and tummy massages any chance I get he's had a warm bath, warm compress on his belly but cannot shift it. He is on infant Gaviscon 2-3 times a day. I need a hail Mary ASAP

Hey have you tried gripe water.

I have, hasn't worked. I've just given him Coloxyl, his poos have been pretty dry due to the gaviscon. But that can take a few days to work

He might have an allergy to the milk your giving him.

definitely pain, it's an awful cry and his tummy is firm too, starting to refuse full feeds and constantly pulling his legs up

Increase tummy time during awake hours and it’ll help with the gas if that’s the cause

he's on expressed breastmilk, I've been dairy free for coming up 3 weeks and have cut out gassy foods like garlic, onion etc. I'm hoping it's no a lactose intolerance

I'll give it a go, he loves tummy time but does get grumpy pretty quickly. I also let him free ball with no nappy every chance I get too be able to move his legs and butt around as freely as possible

Gosh I feel like such a awful mum seeing him so unhappy, he's been like this for weeks, he's just so grumpy all the time and it only gets worse, midwife and doctors just say it'll get better with time but it hurts me too and worried it's going to hinder his development

Do u think he has colic?
Does he cry for more than 3 hours a day for 3 days non stop

With colic they draw their legs to their stomach and are in agony and are very gassy like they fart a lot more than normal

I'd say only recently since starting gaviscon. I can't even remember the last time her passed gas it's definitely all clogged up in there

Up until a week and a half he'd only cry if he was hungry, wet, or needed cuddles, sometimes after feeding due to reflux but not very long. But not it seems every waking minute he's crying and screams in pain.

Have you tried holding him on your arm tummy down?
A nurse showed me this and my little girl was so relieved when I did it!

I haven't, I'll give it a go

I used infacol and it has worked wonders for us mine is also 6 weeks old x

it will be ok. I know sometimes we feel like a bad mom a mom who isn’t doing enough, but you are. It’s hard, frustrating, lack of sleep but you baby loves you and you love your baby too it will get easier🫶🏼

Infacol was a miracle for us. Also check out wonky winding x

I had problems with my little boy around that age! Infracol and tommee tippee advanced colic bottles were the only thing that helped x

Gripe water helped us a lot when my LO would get constipated or couldn’t get gas out.

I use gripe water every 4 hours for my LO 30 minutes after he eats. I have yet to get any success with the bicycle thing so I just pick him up and hold him underneath his arms so I can support his head at the same time and just let him hang there. Sometimes I will also sway his legs from side to side. He stretches his legs down when I do this all on his own that way and releases a lot of gas that way.

You might need to change his formula. My daughter had severe gas that small, I can't tell you how many formulas we went through. A-2 formula was the only thing that worked along with the infant anti-gas drops
Edited to add: we got the anti colic bottles and when making her bottles we stored the formula and never shook it to mix it up.

It could be eggs, nuts, or milk. It was eggs for me. My daughter had bad gas, then she started getting eczema. I was dieting so I was eating the same thing everyday and found out it was eggs that was giving her a hard time. Once I stopped her eczema cleared up and her gas.

he's only expressed breastmilk, hasn't had formula at all

I've cut out dairy completely 3 weeks ago and don't really eat eggs

Hi Brogan, have you tried baby probiotic? I find it helps with the gas pain, my son had gas pain around 6-8 weeks and would wake up early morning uncomfortable crying and probiotic helped him.
With burping, it works for my son when I lie him down flat after feeding for like 10-15 seconds for the bubbles to come up and then burp him on my shoulder and he usually let's out a big burp within a minute

I've just ordered some biogaia on Amazon, we don't really have anything available like that here in New Zealand

that's great hopefully it helps. NZ should have inner health baby probiotic. X

You might consider an AIP diet if all he is getting is from you.
