Going out and about keeping a routine.

My little girl is nearly 8 weeks.
How do you all manage going out and doing things but still maintaining a sleep routine for your babies?

We’ve had to go to the doctors today and then popped into see some family. Because we’ve been in and out my daughters sleep has been so interrupted that’s she now very overtired and incredibly hard to get to sleep and stay asleep.
It makes me not want to go out to avoid difficult evenings.

My boys actually worse in the house 😂🫣 being out and about puts him to sleep, he wakes up pretty much as soon as we get home but normally after a good feed will go back off for a couple of hours

We just don't really have a day time routine. He sleeps on me really well so if he's in a carrier I just keep an eye on him and if he's been asleep for a couple of hours I'll make sure to get him out and get him awake and wriggling for a bit.
If I need to run errands and I know I'm only out the house for an hour or so, I just try and time of for when he's been awake for a bit, knowing he'll sleep as soon as we head out.

You have a sleep routine? Lol. My baby is almost 8 weeks and we are all over the place.

I have a pretty consistent routine with my 9 week old and have been pretty strict with 3 things since around day 4. I’ve had to go back to work pretty quickly so I knew it was important for both of us.
We get outside first thing so he knows it’s daytime, I always make sure we are back for his long nap at lunchtime - yesterday that meant leaving my partners family gathering but my sleep/quality of life in the evenings is more important to me atm as I’m by myself from 2pm and it’s not always easy feeling like you’re missing out on things but I know he thrives off that long nap and then once he’s up we always get fresh air before his bed routine starts.
It can feel hard and you might get some resistance and looks about taking yourself away from things to go home for nap time but my baby is won’t nap properly in his pram so I know it’s the right thing for us right now.

We're not in a routine yet but interested to see how people manage this as I had to wake baby the other day for his hospital appointment and it made the whole rest of the day difficult!

Hey I’m Mel a holistic and gentle sleep coach!

I find at this age a routine is almost impossible as things are a bit all over the place however if people do have a routine and it’s working for them brill!!

With my two at this age would do a lot of sling naps as that would let me go about my day and as they started to get older and structure was easier then it was easier to get a bit more routine.

It’s so tough though!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
