Any encouraging words of wisdom from other mamas who have returned to work and have had to leave their baby at daycare? I left my 3.5 month old at daycare for 2 hours today as a little trial run and she was so upset to be handled by strangers 😫 I’m hoping she adjusts quickly and will see the 2 daycare ladies as an extension of her family. I feel so guilty leaving her when she’s too young to understand why I’m leaving

It’s soo hard. This week is a full month back to work. My son adjusted really really well. He goes to a really small inhome though. Babies are so smart and learn to adjust, the first week was tough for us though. He still barely naps there so he’s really tired when we get home. Sending you love!

we are going to a small in-home one too so that helps. Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m happy to hear your son adjusted well and hope my daughter does the same.

Give her some time. Some good has come out of daycare for me: she was getting used to napping in a crib which made transitioning her from her bassinet to crib that much easier. And she got used to napping not being swaddled which made needing to transition out of that easy as well. She also developed the ability to self soothe early as they don't respond right away to cries (which breaks my heart but is understandable) so she has just needed to learn it.

The first day (and week) is SO hard. Crying for both of you is very normal! But the upsides are you can have some time to yourself again, talk to adults, maybe drink a whole cup of coffee while it’s still hot 😂 And she will get used to it, and like you said will likely see her new caregivers as safe and caring soon!

Thank you guys for the positive stories :) she did better today. We got a video of her smiling at one of the toddlers showing her a toy, and then when we picked her up, she was smiling a lot at her caregiver. Hoping this trend continues 🤞
