Hospital bag

Just after a little advice/inspiration...
I'm currently packing my hospital bag, however a little stuck on what I need - and what is a waste to have or not enough of.
I've been advised I will be in for a minimum of 24 hours, so thus worries me that I need to be more prepared incase I run out of anything. Although currently I feel I have over packed.

Any advice or own lists from experience would be hugely appreciated 🤍

I followed the list on the nhs website instead of other blogs etc as I found some of them to be a bit excessive? If we forget something that we desperately need my partner can pop home and grab it x

I agree, I’ve seen Tik Tok videos of people packing full suitcases that you would take on a 2 week all inclusive!!

For my first I packed the world no lie, I had a c section and barely used anything in my bag except shower stuff and then a going home outfit.. because I wore the hospital gown throughout my 2 night stay. For baby what I packed was just about enough.

For me
- Maternity pads x 6
- Nursing bra x 2
⁃ Roll on deo
⁃ Face cream
⁃ Shower gel
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Hair brush
- Toothpaste
- Tooth brush
- Lip balm
- Flip flops
- Pjs
- Change of clothes x 2 (1 being going home outfit)
- Cardigan
- Socks x 2
- Charger
- Snacks
- Nipple cream/silverettes

For Babies bag
- Change of clothes inc vest, hat x 4 (1 being going home outfit) 0-1m
- Blanket x 1
- Nappies 1 pack
- Cotton balls
- Nappy cream
- Muslins x 3
- Swaddle x 1
- Ready made formula for just incase

This time round I am going to try VBAC so adding a peri bottle and another change of clothes for me x

Best things people told me about was a LONG charger.. sometimes chargers won't reach the bed from the socket. Also because hospitals are warm and if you're breastfeeding you get super thirsty so a big water bottle with a straw so you don't need to lift your head up to drink.
Waste of time: cosy stuff like slippers or dressing down. I was in gown and then just a vest and knickers!!

I took my own first time round but didn’t use it, the hospital gave me small ones, I asked for 2, got changed in the area I had a shower in so didn’t necessarily walk out with a towel so it did me ok.. it wasn’t necessarily soft comfy towels but it did the job. I think take one just incase as all hospitals are different but I’m going to the same hospital again so expect them to provide it again if I do stay long enough to have a shower x

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Rolling milestone at 5 months - What’s typical ?

Good morning ladies,

My daughter will be 5 months old tomorrow, but there’s still no sign of her rolling. She does tummy time and loves lying on her mat, playing with hanging toys above her and to the sides, but she only lifts her legs and doesn’t seem interested in rolling or moving sideways yet.

Anyone else the same or have your babies already learnt how to roll yet ?
