I have my 12 week scan next week on Thursday and started getting anxious. Bought a doppler the other day and I couldn't be more grateful for it. Tried it today and we heard the heartbeat ❤️❤️❤️ I thought we wouldn't hear anything 🙂 would definitely recommend 🙂

Do be careful with Doppler's they aren't reccomended as it's easy to read your own heartbeat and think all is fine when it's not. I'm not trying to scare you just want you to be aware of why they are not reccomended

thank you. I have been made aware of that by my midwife. Heartbeat that we heard was too fast to be my own (checked mine as well how it sounded). I won't be using it if I feel something is wrong instead of reaching out to my midwife first.

Just to add, sounds can double so it can appear to be the fetal heart rate when it isn't - placenta/blood vessels/maternal HR. Never use for reassurance, always seek medical advice. Even if you do get the true FH, it is only a snapshot in time and not an indicator of health. There's many reasons why it isn't recommended for untrained individuals. I wish you well in your pregnancy x

oh absolutely correct use is fine I just think we need to make people aware of this cuz I've heard too many horror stories of someone not going In with reduced movement as they heard the heartbeat and it wasn't baby.....
Not trying to preach or upset anyone with that comment these things are great I have one myself just want to make others aware especially if they feel something is off don't rely on it as a medical tool get checked still x

I am really nervous too I am glad you have had some reassurance and are using the doppler sensibly. I won't let myself have one I think it would be addictive! My scan is Thursday can't wait but anxious too! X

i agree. It is too risky to not seek medical advice if you notice there is less movement than usual. The reason why I bought it was out of curiosity, definitely not something to use as a medical tool. It is good to raise awareness

thank you
