Have any of you been on nutramigen then changed to a different milk such as neocate or aptamil pepti? How did you know when to change? How did you know nutramigen wasn’t working/how long did you give it? My doctor has booked a review for my lg next week but I don’t think I can wait any longer as she’s so unsettled, hates the milk and having reflux type symptoms. I don’t want her to be an unhappy baby😭

I didn’t change but even when we started on Neocate, it took a while for the symptoms to go away. Neocate absolutely stinks so a lot of babies reject it. Have you tried carobel to thicken it and help with the reflux? X
no we haven’t tried that but think we might x

How long have you been using it? My boy has only been on it since Friday but have seen no difference in his symptoms so far x

My little boy was on nutramigen for 5 weeks, his symptoms actually improved but then gradually came back so we moved to neocate. This was when he was a few months old, he's 1 next week (😭) and thriving on neocate. It tastes and smells awful though, our gp told us to use vanilla extract drops in it to make it taste nicer and that helped massively.
I will say though, his reflux didn't settle with any kind of formula - it just gradually slowed down then stopped completely at around 7 months old - we didn't use gaviscon or thickeners, just lots of bibs and muslins 🤣

My LG was on nutramigen for around 8 weeks it worked really well after a couple of days and then her symptoms slowly came back. I rang the gp and got her switched onto neocate and it worked amazing for her.

My little boy was on Nutrimigan for two days before we rang the GP again and explained that he was vomiting all the time and hardly drinking- I mean who can blame him it’s vile and smells so bad! They explained that a fed baby was way more important than trying to figure out his allergies and we actually went back on Kendamil for a few days whilst they ordered some different formula in that he might get on with. He is now on SMA Alfamino and he’s been doing much better on this for the last 7 weeks- all his symptoms have now gone.
I would say if you don’t think it’s doing her any good, stick to yours guns and ring the GP again.

Hey, we were on nutrimgian now on SMA alfamino, do you find the SMA is really grainy and powdery? I can't seem to get it to dissolve properly and I follow the instructions! Just did her a feed and it seemed like it had dissolved but then the bottle is so powdery so I'm really worried it's not killed the bacteria and she's not got the nutrition she needs x

yes it’s so grainy and it leaves like a oily film on the bottle. We used to hand wash the bottles but now put them in the dishwasher as we found we couldn’t clean the film of properly.
We use a prep machine to make our bottles and we just shake it after the hot shot a lot and then again after the cold water. We also swirl it during breaks in his feeds to keep it mixed.
We also found the teats on the bottle were getting blocked by the grain, so we went up a size and that seems to have solved it now. Hope that helps 🙏🏻
