Induction at the vic

We had a brilliant experience for both my deliveries. I had to be induced both times due to being high risk. Their facilities are unlike any I've heard of. The midwifes are absolutely fantastic and make your time in there as comfortable as possible. I've heard lots of stories of friends of mine in Edinburgh and Aberdeen and none of them seem to have as good an experience as I have because of the induction suite, you have your own room and your birthing partner can stay with you the whole time. how long were you in hospital for/did it take to be induced? I feel like I’m at the point where I’ve been waiting long enough I’d rather have a section than be induced and possibly be in for days on end which I never thought I’d say😫

I went to the Vic to be induced 40+10. They are so lovely in there. I got the pessary put in and was told I would be induced 24hours later but I went into labour about 9 hours later. They will give you and your partner food up until the baby is here then the partner is to fend for himself lol. So take plenty supplies. You can get deliveries so it’s not too bad as the food is 🤮

I had the pessary put in both times, first time they also had to use gel too. I was in thu afternoon and baby arrived on sat and 2nd time I was in on Fri and baby arrived 28 hours later. (I was induced before my due date at 38 weeks)

I’ve been induced both times and the staff are lovely. Both times I was in 4 nights. Hubby can stay too. They have pull out beds in the induction rooms which I know other health boards don’t have xx

I haven’t been induced per say, my waters broke naturally but because I hadn’t moved from 1cm in 12 hours they put me on the drip & then I ended up having a section anyway. Having said all that the staff are phenomenal! The facilities were brilliant, i chose to stay an extra night after my section so I was in 4 nights (which includes almost 24 hours of labour) & my friend who had an elective section went home the next day so it all just depends. Ultimately if you don’t want to be induced, say no. They can’t make you. You can always accept a sweep to see if that kick starts labour naturally or go for a section. Either way, your body, your decision! The perks of having Just Eat orders is amazing but nothing will hit the spot like the toast slathered in butter once baby’s here! 🤤 good luck!

Ah fair enough. My baby was oblique which meant her head was in my hip & she kept popping in & out of my pelvis. I don’t know the answer to this so maybe worth asking but if your baby isn’t engaged, how will an induction make your baby engaged? 🤔
