Shein baby clothes

This is a bit of a random post but does anybody buy their baby clothes on shein? I have clothes from there myself so not against wearing stuff from there but the study it showed about their clothes containing led really put me off buying baby clothes from there. I'm having a baby boy in Feb and struggling to find many clothes I like for him as the girls section is always way bigger and I've seen shein have some really lovely baby stuff so I'm tempted to buy some. I was just interested to see other people's views on this because I'm probs just being dramatic šŸ˜…

tbh I think I'm probably just being dramatic like I said because I have loads from there myself too🤣

I got lots of stuff from there they had such more choices for outfits they came n seen fine I’ll be washing everything before he comes anyway x

I've been gifted a lot from shein and found the sizes are MASSIVE (granted my guy is a wee dude, but when he was chunky when he was younger I found then massive still) so just be mindful of that.

He has some super cute sets from it though! And they wash pretty well without shrinking etc

I’ve never bought from shein for baby stuff. But matalan have some cute stuff in atm, so does M&S and Asda is always quite good for boy stuff! I think Tesco is supposed to be quite good but our clothing section is rubbish as it’s only a small store so not 100% on that (incase you don’t want to get from shein). Next usually do some nice stuff too. It’s just a bit pricier than getting online. I’m not sure about primark but I can imagine they’ll have tons of stuff you don’t want which is annoying as it’s so cheap!
If it makes it any easier, I got outfits for when my girl was born and it wasn’t until she moved into 3-6 clothing that I started dressing her in something other than sleepsuits really. So you could maybe just get a couple outfits and then when summer comes round then put baby in all the cute clothes

I’ve bought so much stuff from shein, I just make sure it’s washed before hand.
Someone else said above they find the sizes massive, however I haven’t found that the case, in fact I’ve had some run smaller.

No, I have avoided it for that exact reason that their clothes have been found to contain high levels of led and it’s not worth the risk.

I have a son and there are plenty of lovely baby boys clothes out there. Though I do get what you mean about the baby girls sections being bigger.

Matalan, George at Asda, F&F at Tesco and Tu at Sainsburys usually do nice boys stuff and Asda George usually have good sales.
I have also bought off Vinted a few times. I wasn’t sure when I first ordered but was pleasantly surprised as I managed to get him some gorgeous Next dungarees for Ā£4 and they’d only been worn a few times. I’m always looking for deals on there now. As babies grow out of clothes so quickly you usually find a lot of the baby stuff on Vinted has only been worn a couple of times.

I’m a next snob. But I absolutely love Vinted!

Hey I’ve found quite a few stuff from tk maxx too! Just when you’re out grocery shopping could just have a look in the clothes aisles in supermarkets too xx

I think the problem with lead and DEHP/ phthalate exposure is that it can have very serious health implications on babies and young children especially. It doesn’t mean that you’d notice any immediate reactions - it can cause symptomatic health issues years later.

Avatar

I'd never buy from them, it's a horrid company not paying staff properly or ensuring their products are safe.

Use Vinted and get something better quality secondhand.

You can search for exactly what you want and babies grow so quick all the stuff I've bought has been great condition.

I've used it to buy cute outfits my boy had from Tesco in the next size when he grew out of them, as I loved them so much

I have a degree in textiles and I would AVOID! Shein and Temu don’t have the same safety standards as retailers in the EU. Don’t want to worry anyone but if you’ve ever hand washed items, you will see dye continues to leach out even after 1 wash, would not risk it with delicate baby skin.

Avatar

I wouldn’t risk it for my little one, & she’s two now! We like H&M, primark do some lovely bits, supermarkets - F&F is just šŸ‘ŒšŸ½, & next/M&S here & there x

Yes

:( I’m reading the comments and I’m sad because shein is so affordable lol I could get a million things

Avatar

Yee, I get all sorted from there for me and my child.

I ordered some baby things from there.. they are all fine but make sure you turn them inside out and wash first as one of the outfits I ordered had dead flies (a kind I’ve never seen before) stuck to the inside of the material.

Avatar

Hi Tyler, I’m wondering about that too šŸ˜…. I found many things that I like. I will probably buy but wash properly before to use šŸ˜„

Avatar

get them, tbh you could order from a small boutique and not know where they get their stock from. There is pros and cons to everything. Just order and wash before wear 😊

Avatar

I buy on Temu and Filter them down to Material = Cotton ;) so far have had good quality items for my 20 month old xx

dead flies 😩🫣

What other places are affordable? I have no idea where to buy everything is so expensive

Ordered lots of things from shein for my toddler and no problems

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say ā€œyou forget the pain once they’re hereā€ but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
