Hey! So I know once a baby has started eating a formula bottle it’s only good for 1 hour but I accidentally gave her the last 10mL of a bottle that I thought had only been out 40 min. When I checked the last time she ate it on my baby app, it had been an HOUR and 45 minutes….
I know REALISTICALLY she’ll probably be fine but I feel SO terrible because she’s only 3 days old I need to know how bad this really is….
She seems fine right now but not sure what I should do

She’ll be fine, don’t worry yourself to much. She’ll let you know if she’s unhappy and if her tummy doesn’t like it she’ll sick it back up. Your doing your best, don’t doubt yourself xx

She’ll just sick it back up if it doesn’t agree with her! It was hardly over the 1h and only 10ml. She’s beautiful🥺

thank you.. this isn’t my first time parenting a baby/child but definitely the first time with my own and I’m doing it alone and i just don’t wanna mess her up…
I know logically she’ll probably be fine but the guilt is so strong I needed to hear it I think…

thank you!! Yeah she was just really small. It’s a lot scarier raising your own baby than coparenting someone else’s and I was NOT ready for it to be THIS different

Omgggg she’s so tiny my I’m tearing up 🥹 she’s beautiful she’ll be fine it’s not like it’s milk that’s been sat out all night I’ve accidentally done it we all have she’ll either be absolutely fine or she’ll be sick nothing serious just like if u were to drink old milk

Don’t worry with both babies I got so many things wrong but it’s okay, we’re human beings and make mistakes! You’re doing an amazing job ❤️❤️❤️

oh ok…. That’s a relief for sure I really thought it was much worse.

thank you I’m trying ❤️😭

I was told an hr at the hospital. I know a lot of things they tell you not to do at all is for liability reasons but it’s hard to tell what’s for liability and what’s actually very dangerous…

She will absolutely be fine! I had a friend once who’s baby momma left him with the baby (like permanently) and when I came over to help, poor baby girl was drinking an 8 hour old bottle!!!! Her dad had no idea. She was totally fine. Didn’t get sick or have diarrhea or anything. Don’t feel bad mama, you are doing great!

I thought it was good for 2 hours, I’m sure that what it says on the tub, I give her 2 hour old formula all the time if she hasn’t finished a bottle and just needs a top up otherwise I’d be wasting soo much

oh my GOD?! That’s insane and makes me feel WAY better

right?!
Her and I are still working together to figure out breastfeeding it’s a process, so I’m supplementing with formula when I don’t feel she’s getting enough or when she’s showing hunger cues but doesn’t want boob

but formula is expensive and there was only 10ml left and I grabbed the wrong bottle

she seems ok right now and is currently having another bottle. That’s a good sign right?

ok thank you!!

sometimes she also just won’t latch and we try for a while so at that point id give formula but ya she seems ok thus far maybe i shouldn’t stress too much…

Formula is good for two hours after opened. Don’t worry xo

even once she’s started eating it?

thank you ❤️

Don’t panic hun, I did this so many times by accident by picking up the wrong bottle when a couple were close by! My girl is 10 weeks old on Friday and she’s fine from it happening. Being a mummy is so anxiety provoking! I’m sure you’re smashing it. I was also combi feeding at first, and after a month went to just formula because I always felt like she wasn’t getting enough and having her cluster feeding so much was a lot for me. You’ll get the right balance and what’s best for you over time 🩷

She’s beautiful I’m sure she will be fine xx

I understand that your baby is very new and mine is not lol but I now all the time will give my son formula that has sat past the hour mark because he will only drink half of his bottle and won't come back for it until about an hour later and formula is EXPENSIVE and I'm tired of wasting it. He is fine so I'm sure your baby will be fine but again, yours is newer than mine 🤣 Like everyone else has said, they will probably throw it up before it does any actual harm if any at all 💕

😂 yeah I mean she SEEMS fine and has since had another bottle and it currently sleeping on my chest so I’m a LOT calmer now

that’s actually wrong mama formula is only good for 1 hour once babies mouth has touched it and breast milk is good for two once touched mouth pumped is 4 hours not refrigerated and formula is good for 24 hours refrigerated

And mama accidents happen one time isn’t gonna hurt your little one but doing it constantly may start to have an effect the reason your not suppose to is not because the milk goes bad it’s because bacteria starts to grow in the bottle so I wouldn’t make it habit but accidents happen

Formula is good for 2 hours but the little bottles used at the hospitals are usually 1 hour.
The aptamil formula I use says on the box once started use within 2 hours so that’s what I’ve always done and my boy is 5 months now with no issues.
She will be fine and my god she’s beautiful!! Congratulations xx

I’m the same my HV always told me it was ok for 2 hours after my boys started drinking it so that’s how I’ve always done it 😳😳

I know you didn’t ask for breastfeeding advice so please feel free to ignore this, but I just wanted to suggest if you have big boobs try a rolled up towel/cloth under them when feeding. It takes the weight of your boob off them & once we tried this my boys latch was so much better x

I think 2hr is acceptable in the US

YES I DO THEYRE HUGE!! Thank you!

she has a super strong latch it’s just finding the right positioning or getting my milk flowing a bit more. She latches super strong though

but yes I will

I gave my son expired formula at 3 days old and he was fine 😭. So I think she’ll be okay eating the left out one

pumped breast milk is good for about 4-6 hours x

I done this by accident aswell but think it may have been longer than 2hrs when my baby was 4days old I called the midwife she said she will be fine and she is now 5weeks old and was fine x

Formula has a 2 hour window, you're fine!! The pediatrician told the lady I nanny for it is good up to two hours. Don't fret mama!! Congratulations, baby is beautiful!!

I know for a fact, the pediatrician said formula bottles are good for up to 2 hours!!
Perhaps it's different types of formula, but I know that's what he said 🤷
Just check the back of your formula can, bc now I'm super curious, 🤔

I once had given it after 4 hours but he was fine. Just ended up breaking wind a bit more than normal but he was fine and wasn’t in any discomfort. Don’t stress yourself, also most formula is ok up to 2 hours.

I feed my son formula up to 2 hours.. dw about it xx

Your baby will be fine, the hospital gave me expired formula and I gave it to my daughter when she was a week old without checking and she was fine.

Lol you sound like me 😂 I gave my days old baby breast milk that had been out for hours because I thought it was still good… she’s had formula that was out for 1 1/2 hours on accident! I felt TERRIBLE! She’s a happy & healthy 3 1/2 month old now! These things happen, your baby will be okay!!

oh my god??

thank you!!! I know logically all is well but again logic flies out the window when it’s your kid

@Ezgi no if baby has drank from a fresh BM bottle you should toss milk 2 hrs after babies finished eating from it or refrigerate

Hi, how are you getting on. nice to connect with you. I am a new mum based in NW10. I have a new born

pumped breast milk is 4 hours in US

You’re fine lol

100%!!
